Deborah: Thanks for the census info. I have found all of my KELLY info via the Internet, and I haven't been back to Alabama since then. So, I have not actually looked at the censuses on my KELLYs. So, you know both Carol (my sister) and Addie St. Laurent (rather than St. Amant? Oh, well, so muck for memory!)? Do you know if Mrs. Ivison is still living? Her health was poor when I knew her ten years ago. Has that Thursday UDC chapter fizzled out? And you live in Mobile? Neat! Since you are interested in CSA units, let me tell you that I have the roster for Gage's Battery, an artillery unit that formed in Mobile and fought at Shiloh. My g-g-granfather, James H. Hill, was in charge of that unit at Shiloh. If you want info about it for whatever reason, let me know. Later, Kathryn
Goodness! Carol is in the Bonnie Blue along with Addie St. Laurent. She was in another chapter some yrs. ago. What a hoot! The N.G. could be N. D. -- the writing in these rosters isn't the best and I make my best guess on occasion. Especially where the info is limited to initials. >From the transcribed census info for 1850 inference is that "N.G." could well be your Noah Daniel. I'll pull out the copy of the muster roll and take another gander at it. Do you have any other information on him or his brother? I would be pleased to add it to the 36th Ala. page. Would you like your email included as a contact link? Diane: Thanks! Yes, I am a member of the UDC. When I was in Mobile, I joined the chapter in which Mrs. Hazel Ivison and her niece, Mrs. St. Amant, were members. It met on Thursday mornings, so I couldn't attend the meetings always; my job wouldn't allow me to attend. Was that the Bonnie Blue Flag Chapter? My sister, Carol May, is also an active member in UDC is a chapter that meets on Saturdays. I now live in Durham, NC, and I am teaching English full-time at a Christian High School here. So, my time for attending meetings is limited. However, I have really enjoyed visiting historic places in the VA, NC, SC area--many Revolutionary War sites. I don't have any further info about David William KELLY, but if I find any, I will send it you. I can't figure out who the N.G. Kelly was. David had a younger brother named Noah Daniel KELLY who would have been 19-20 when the war began. Do you have any way of finding out who N.G. was? Kathryn
The Muster Roll for Company F of the 36th Regiment of Alabama Vols. shows: Kelly, D. W. 2 Lieut. 36 Ala. Monroe Kelly, N. G. 19 Ala. Monroe Kelly, David W. -- Capt. 36th Ala. Co. F, died Dec. 20th My site (below) has a reasonable amount of informaiton on Monroe Co. infantry units. The 36th was at Missionary Ridge as several members were wounded or killed there. Follow the links to the Muster Roll for Co. F and for the wounded at Chattanoga. If you have any personal or other information on the Kellys of the 36th I would be pleased and honoured to include it. By the by, are you a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy? If not, would you be interest in joining? Your Obedient Servant, D. A. I just returned today from Monroeville, AL and Burnt Corn. I would check with the Monroeville Library. If I am not mistaken, I may have seen a book with those minutes but I am not positive. Diane: Do you have any notes on KELLYs from Monroe County who served in the Civil War? I know that my g-g-g-uncle, David William KELLY, was killed at Missionary Ridge. Kathryn
Is it possible that you are really looking for Hatchechubbee Creek, a stream rising in Russell County and flowing into the Chattahoochee River? I have been able to find the subject Burnt Corn Church records several times at the Alabama Department of Archives and History in Montgomery (on microfilm). They also have the microfilm of Old Salem Baptist Church of Mexia in Monroe Co. Elizabeth
Have not heard of that creek but in the Buena Vista-Vredenburg area of the county I recall a creek with the name Talachee(spelling may not be correct) which was reportedly an Indian name. Sorry and Good Luck! Barbara

Could that be the one in question ? It flows into the river of the same name and is located in Dale Co. Burnt Corn is east northeast of Monroeville, AL at the intersection of highways 30, 5 and 15. These are all state roads, I believe.
I believe the Historic Museum was given lots of records but everything is in the process of being remodeled right now and I don't know if the hard copy records can be viewed at this time, I will call Kathy McCoy and ask tho.. hello everyone, I have copied MOST of the 1900 and I am now going over it to see how I am going to transcribe it. In the meantime, I have a list of the Giffin's listed in 1900...can anyone claim them? Tell me something, anything about them??? There are two families in Clarke County 1850 that would fit both John M, and William...Can anyone tell me anything about the three Griffin households that are not mine? I have a feeling they should be mine also... Thanks in Advance Debbie
