Kathryn, do you have the CD#248? If so, and if you have time, would you see if there is a marriage for Alfred Bennett Roberson and Mary Alice Wright (could be Allice Mary Wright) in 1874 in Wilcox County? I had thought they were married in Monroe County until I heard differently from a cousin. Thank you again for your research. Hi Listers, I need SKS to clear up some confusion for me. My grandparents got married in Franklin, AL in 1923. I am told it is in Monroe County. However, on the certificate, Macon County is clearly displayed. 2 websites I have tried say Franklin is in Monroe County. Dear RevJane, My Lassiter is Susanna Lassiter born in Dobbs County, North Carolina December 31, 1785. She married James Wiggins. James acquired land in Morgan County Alabama and they migrated there. This would be my ggg granparents. Susanna's father's name was Stephan Lassiter. Please let me know if this sounds familiar at all to you! Sorry Kathryn, neither Taylor or Kelly on the list. As I mentioned, this is just a partial list, compiled by the Monroe Journal in 1926, Just names that someone remembered at the time or was able to find. It is by no means complete. Emma in NM
Thanks for responding about the Helton information. Sammye Baker
Hello, I want to apologize for not knowing that the bold face would not transfer over to your digest. I had my key names highlighted as they are my direct blood lines. The other names were people I had not spent a lot of time on yet. Here is a corrected list followed by the information I have on the other names. I am new at these lists and genealogy. I am sorry for the mistake. This time I capitalized the main names and underlined them. Any Alabama information would be great. I started out in Eva, Morgan County, Alabama but the folks moved all over and I do not yet have a lot of information on them. SOUTHERN NAMES ADAMS, Baker, BROOK, Campbell, Childers, Cobb, Collinson, Daniel, Davis, Dohoty, Eastwood, Enterkin, Ford, GRANT, Hemperly, Jackson, Lassater, Lassiter, LIVINGSTON, Lyle, Mason, Minor, Norris, Orr, Patten, Patton, PURYEAR, Rary, RYAN, Sansom, Simmons, Tanner, Taylor, Tomlin, TURNER, Warren, Wood The following are the answers to the inquiries I received. Waveline TURNER married Homer TAYLOR (both born around 1900) and had two daughters. Waveline was Cephas TURNERs sister. I have just received some more on this family but have not put it all together. Bruce ADAMS married Barbara Nellie DANIEL and had a son John Quincy ADAMS who is dead.Bruce is my great uncle born around 1890 to 1910. His brother Robert ADAMS from Eva is my grandfather. This is all I have on these three. Cora ADAMS is my great aunt born around 1890 to 1910. Her brother Robert ADAMS from Eva is my grandfather. I have only this little bit of information on her. She married a Dr. DAVIS and they may be in Union Hill Grave Yard somewhere. Junita Turner SIMMONS is the daughter of Auby TURNER (9-22-1911 to 10-12-1997 connected to Attalla and Etowah) and Jimmie BAKER TURNER (5-28-1893 to 2-1976 connected to Attalla and Etowah) with a sister Janet that lives in Texas. This is all I have on any of them at this point. I would appreciate any information on any of these but particularly the full cap and underlined names. Thank you again, revjane
Emma: Are there any TAYLOR or KELLY men listed on your list? Kathryn
Is there anyone that would be willing to go to the Skinnerton cemetery (I think it is a baptist church cemetery that is not far from the Midway B.C. Church cemetery) and check for any Ross info for me?? I would be very grateful!!! Thank you, Janet Ross Etheredge

Boy has it turned cold up here in Michigan. I attended a function in Detroit this week end, people from the South were at the Carlton Ritz as well. I had to laugh as I watched other's walk out the door during a break yesterday. The wind would jerk the door from your hand and whip you like a step child. The look on their faces made me think what I must have looked like last year (my first winter here). Facial expressions of "what was that and where did it come from" (?) was a sight to see. It was 30 and rain started as the day drew to it's close of day light. Sure makes me home sick. JUST CALL ME "DOROTHY" (wizard of Oz) because there is NO PLACE LIKE HOME .Alabama never knew cold like up here. ha It get's cold here but as the snow starts to fall (SOON), everything is so beautiful. Look's like a hallmark card everywhere you look. Some places even have the horses with sleighs for you to ride in. (,just like in the movies). Have you heard any more on the Taylor or Brown's? I am so grateful for all that you have done for me. I know very little but I do know more because of you. THANK YOU KAY. revjane, I found a Robert Davis from Coffee County, AL, I think he is the only one listed on the Monroe Journals 1926 list. As I said before, this is NOT a complete list of the Co F 53 rd Alabama, it is only a partial list that the Journal published in 1926. There were some Simmons in Monroe County but I don't know if they were connected to the CSA in any way. I do know that a Mr and Mrs. Simmons owned a hotel in Monroeville. I spent some time there as a child, and I fondly remember sitting on a high stool in the kitchen, talking to "Ninna" the wonderful cook . This was about 1941-42. She made the best cherry pies !
