Al Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Monroe?read=761 Surname: FORE, SANDERS, ANDRESS, HIXON, BUTLER, SCARBOROUGH, NOBLES ------------------------- I have a Daniel Fore born 1843 who married a Mary R. McWilliams on 1-7-1866 at Zion Baptist Church in Monroe County. I believe her father to be Rev. John McWilliams who married most of Daniel and Smitha Fore's children including the above Daniel. Rev. McWilliams was the pastor of Zion Baptist Church. His brother, Wooten C. McWilliams married Daniel Sr's daughter, Elizabeth Ann Fore in 1843. I find Rev. McWilliams listed throughout the Fore weddings. I don't know if he would be the father of your Mary. There is a town of McWilliams in Wilcox County also. Hope this helps.

    1. [ALMONROE-L] Burials & Cemeteries
    2. List, With the posting of the 2 new cemeteries, I am reminded of trying to locate a resting place of my g-g-gm, Mary (Mace) CRAWFORD. Could someone tell me if many people were sent back to their original place of birth? It would seem to me that it would have been almost impossible back in those days, but ... Not knowing their church connections, wondered if anyone knows what churches were in the area near this property? East half of the North West quarter of Section Twelve (12) in Township Nine (9) of Range Seven (7) East District of ? Land Office Cahaba for 79.75 acres Would appreciate any help on info concerning churches records or other sources that might help. Thank you for your help, Winkie CRAWFORD R WinkieFL@aol.com

    1. [ALMONROE-L] Eliska Cemeteries
    2. Mark Migura
    3. I would like to thank Joyce and Mrs. Ginger Powell & Ms Betty McIntyre for their work on these cemeteries, especially the John Jenkins cemetery. This cemetery was originally the Henderson Cemetery. My GGGGG grandfather was Alexander Henderson, and he and his son-in-law Reuben ADCOCK, (my GGGG grandfather) donated the land for the Henderson Methodist Church and cemetery apparently back in the 1820's but due to the courthouse fire in 1832 they resubmitted this deed again in the 1840's. My wife and I have been there twice in the last 18 months and were unsuccessful both times in trying to find this cemetery. It appears though that no one else is having in difficulty in finding it though. A big THANK YOU again to you folks! Mark

    3. Joyce, Thanks for posting the 2 Eliska cemeteries. I have a question about the John Jenkins Cemetery. In going over what little history that I have on the church that was once located near the cemetery I couldn't find the name John Jenkins mentioned. I had thought that it was the Henderson Methodist Church &Cemetery. So that I can put it in my data, who was John Jenkins and why was the cemetery named for him? Thank you.
