    1. Lookup please
    2. Could someone tell me who might do lookups for this list please? I have hit a stone wall and hope someone might help me locate a William D. Harris birth around 1850 in Old Texas, Monroe County, ALabama. I do not know who his parent were and really would like to discover their names. I understand it is difficult to obtain a birth record a death record in Alabama, is that right? Please tell me how I might proceed. Thank you, Sue Knudsen in Seattle, Washington

    1. Sizemore Marriage Record
    2. Evelyn
    3. Does anyone have marriage information for Monroe County that might include former sheriff Charles SIZEMORE born about 1898, so the record would probably be for around 1920. His obit gave his wife as Mrs. Charlie Durant Sizemore and I am trying to identify her for our family records, so if anyone even knows her name that would be a big help. Charlie died 1 Jan 1966. Thanks! Evelyn Sizemore Leslie Remlap, AL

Just curious to know if you have any info on this family which may have came through NC GA KY MO in early 1800's??

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/HU.2ADI/1588 Message Board Post: I am trying to determine if the William Hopkins Betts buried at Puryearville Cemetery (?) near Burnt Corn in Monroe County is the same person as Lt. Col. William H. Betts of the 13th Alabama Infantry Regiment. William Hopkins Betts (1836 - 1898) married Virginia Mosley (1845 - 1918) in 1869 in Monroe County. Lt. Col. William H. Betts stood trial for murdering a Federal soldier in Georgia circa 1870 during Reconstruction and was apparently aquitted. Did he return to Alabama and live in Monroe County? If anyone has information on Betts, please let me know. Thanks.

    3. Does anyone have info on Callie Roberson who married J. P. Thames? See article below. Thank you. Freda Roberson Noble Marriage of J. P. Thames & Callie Roberson, Monroe, Alabama T======================================================================= === July 2003 From the Monroe Journal, December 1904 A Happy Marriage 21 December 1904 The marriage of Miss Callie Roberson and Mr. J. P. Thames at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Roberson, on the morning of December 7th, at 9 o'clock, was unusually impressive. Seldom has a wedding occurred in this vicinity which has caused more interest or has been more eagerly looked foward to for several months than has this one, owing to the popularity of the fair bride and handsome groom. The morning dawned fair and crisp and the early hour brought the groom to the side of his fair intended, and he gently led her into the midst of the assembled circle of relatives and friends where Rev. I. S. Ridgeway, in a few well chosen words united their hearts as well as hands. The sentiments of all were "how lovely the bride looks in her "going away" costume of seal brown zebeline. Mr. Thames numbers his friends and his acquaintances, and no young man ever rose more rapid in financial affairs than he is doing and a bright future is before him. The bonnie bride, as Miss Callie Roberson, has since childhood been beloved by those who have known her best by her beauty of character, and in her blonde loveliness there is much that indicates her bright kind and artistic nature, which she has justly borne a fair reputation in many respects. Pleasant and full of good wishes were the congratulations heaped upon them as they made their departure for a brief honeymoon to the "Land of Flowres." May their love be as sparkling as the diamond's rays, their happiness as bright as the sunbeams, their days as numerous as the stars of Heaven. EUPHROSYNNE BURNT CORN, ALABAMA.
