I suspect she is the mother of my ancestor Solomon Gay. Solomon was married to one of Mastin Pugh's daughters, and there are several connections between Elizabeth's sons (John and William) and the Pugh family. Have you found Eliz. on the 1860 & 70 censuses? I have found a Butler Co. marriage between a Jesse Ring and an Elizabeth Gay. Do you know if this is 'our' Elizabeth? Thanks! Linda M.

The next listed is Lizbeth Jones was borne the 24 Feb 1832. I don't know of any reason it might not be your James Washington Jones and now after reading your post I wonder if the Lizabeth listed next could be his wife. Do you know when she was born or what year? I don't know what happened to any of these listed in the Bible except H G Jones and Eddie Jones ( William Edward). There is at least one more buried in the cemetery at Buena Vista. The story handed down on that one(I think it is Thomas) he fought in the Civil War and walked home from Virginia. Other than that I have no trace of the others. McWilliams is around 20 to 30 miles from Sedan. I cannot remember what I posted. Did I list the names in the Bible? If I did are there any of the other names listed nearby on the census? As soon as I get some time I will do more investigating.email me and I will be glad to email you a cop! y of the orginal Bible copy.

His parents were married in Montgomery, Al in 1823. He, according to family lore, was born around 1830. He married Farby (Feraby) Elizabeth Williams in Greenville, Alabama in 1853. The next info I have is land and 1860 census records in Coffeville in Clarke County. After the War, for some reason, they move to near McWilliams where he died in 1873. At that point, the family sell the Clarke County place and some of the family move to Texas. The only reason I can figure why they did not stay in Clarke County after the War would have been to be near family. Is Sedan near McWilliams? Do you think that My James Washington could be the same one in your family bible?

    2. Hi, I would like to correspond with anyone who is researching these Thorton and Manning families of Monroe County. Asa B. Thorton (1788-1843) married Nancy Collier (1792-1860). Their son John A. Thorton (1815) married Sally Sills (1817). Sally is my paternal gggrandaunt. John A. and Sally Sills Thorton's son John E.(1836-1917) married Elizabeth Manning. John E. and my grandfather Alfred Bennett Roberson fought and were captured together in the War Between the States. Elizabeth Manning (1839-1901) was the daughter of Minerva McFerren (1812-) and William H. Manning (1800-). William H. Manning was the son of Patricia Hardy and William T. Manning. The above mentioned Sally Sills Thorton was the daughter of Clement and Elizabeth Thorton Sills. I am trying to learn what the relationship was between Elizabeth Thorton's family and Asa B. Thorton's family. These people lived in Monroe County/ Butler County/Wilcox County, Al. Any info will be greatly appreciated. 1. COLEMAN
    2. Need some help, if you have Monroe Co info (Kay, are you there?). Looking for info on Menan Coleman and wife, Argent Jackson Coleman. Were in Monroe Co early 1800s -- Old Salem Baptist Church, then moved to a new church, and then on to Conecuh Co. It is thought (but not verified) that they died in the 1840s pneumonia epidemic in Conecuh -- perhaps they were taken back to Monroe for burial? (A Piney Coleman married the minister of that new church in Monroe -- and she may have been their daughter, and perhaps took her folks back home for burial?) Have searched Conecuh cemetery records and Escambia Co, AL records. Cannot find them, but they could be in unmarked graves or on private property. Any help would be appreciated! Faye

    3. Good Afternoon Monroe Cty! William Sager married Lavicey Lavicia Levitia (last name unknown could be HAYLES) HARRIS July 23, 1838 in Monroe County. Lavicey Lavicia Levitia was first married to JOHN HARRIS in 1827 together they had 3 children. ELIZABETH, JOHN, ROBERT ELIZABETH HARRIS married Joseph Sizemore abt 1847 they had a daughter JOSEPHINE SIZEMORE b 1848 ELIZABETH HARRIS SIZEMORE then married Jefferson Hollinger November 11, 1852 and they had a son named Adam. WILLIAM SAGER married Sarah Ann Hayles HARRIS (first wife of ROBERT HARRIS son of Lavicey Lavicia Levitia and JOHN HARRIS) April 03, 1862 together she and WILLIAM SAGER had 4 children, Johnson, Sarah, Lewis and Josephine. WILLIAM SAGER and Lavicey had no children together. It is unknown who the parents of JOHN HARRIS born about 1800 were or his true place of birth. I have been unable to pen his history down. If anyone has seen his parents please let me know. I am connected to these folks via there son ROBERT HARRIS and SARAH ANN HAYLES - there son WILLIAM HARRIS who married JANE BARLOW there son WILLIAM HARRIS who married ELMYRA BOHANNON. Hope this helps if you see anything incorrect please let me know. It's been a few years since I've looked at the family files. 3. Sue, I never did see a reply as to whether or not the HARRIS family living with Wm. SAGER on the 1850 census that Grant Johnston posted in reply to your request for a lookup several days ago. If this was the correct HARRIS, do you know who Wm. SAGER and wife, Lovicy, are - or does anyone else, for that matter? I have misplaced my notes on SAGER and I am trying to bring my SIZEMORE file up to date. On the same 1850 census you will find Joseph SIZEMORE and wife Elizabeth HARRIS with their daughter, Josephine age 3. Also on this census are Susan (STIGGINS) Sysemore and son, George next door to Charlotte SIZEMORE Forbes. George and Charlotte are the children of Susannah Stiggins and Absolum SIZEMORE. Absolum and Joseph SIZEMORE are the sons of Arthur SIZEMORE and Mary BAILEY. On the 1860 Monroe Co. census, P.O. Burnt Corn, Sarah HARRIS and her sons William age 5 and Nelson age 4 are still living William and Lovicy SAGER. Also living with them is Josephine SIZEMORE age 12, d! aughter of Joseph and Elizabeth SIZEMORE above. Who are the SAGERs? Thanks, Evelyn Sizemore Leslie Remlap, AL
