    3. Mike, You might try checking the following web site for the Civil War records: http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/soldiers.htm A search shows G. H. Farmer and S. A. Farmer in the 39th Mississippi Infantry (I assume this is your George and Seaborn). It also shows a Daniel Farmer and a Samuel Farmer in the 12th Mississippi Infantry. Good luck with your search. Farmer born 1825-1830 in Georgia/Alabama. He is listed on the 1850 Monroe County, Alabama census (twice) with his wife Mary Ann Wright and brothers, George and Seaborn (and possibly his remarried mother Mary Chancellor?). Mary Ann Wright was born in Old Texas, Monroe County, Alabama about 1830 to Daniel Wright and Ellender/Elanor Godbold. Samuel patented land in Monroe County, Alabama three times between 1850 and 1858. I have found a record where "S.A. Farmer Minister of the Gospel" performed a wedding in Monroe County, Alabama and another record where Samuel paid taxes in beat eleven. Then by 1860 he had moved his family, including his brothers, to Covington County, Mississippi where he had several children listed in his household. By 1867 he had died and his wife Mary Ann had remarried to William B. Gray and they had a child, Cynthia. In 1870, Samuel's children and his remarried widow can be found on the 1870 Simpson Count! y, Mississippi. Of the four records that include Samuel's place of birth, two say he was born in Alabama and two say Georgia and the dates of birth vary from 1825 to 1830. A search for his possible Civil War enlistment, and death therein, has turned up fruitless. His brothers, George and Seaborn both enlisted in the 39th Miss Infantry Co. A where Seaborn was killed in action in 1864 at Franklin, Tennessee. George survived the war and lived to have many descendants. Samuel is not listed in any available "home guard" troops for Simpson County, Mississippi. Samuel seems to have vanished between 1860 and 1866. A check of available Covington County and Simpson County, Mississippi cemetery listings has turned up nothing as well. Any help would be appreciated. 3. Have been unable to locate any information on two of the daughters of Edmond Nathaniel MATHIS and Nancy Wilkinson MATHIS who lived in Monroe county about the time they were born. The two daughters were Nancy Temperance MATHIS born about 1862 and Mary Jane MATHIS born about 1867. The other six children have all been accounted for, but these two have proven to be very elusive. I would appreciate corresponding with anyone who has any information on either or both of these great aunts of mine. Nancy Wilkinson MATHIS was a daughter of Asa Wilkinson and Elizabeth (Betsy) Dykes. A genealogical history titled "No River too Wide; the Mathis-Williams Connection" will be placed in the Monroeville public library within a few weeks. It is a two volume set with the MATHIS line traced in the first volume and the WILLIAMS line traced in the second volume. The two volumes combined have about 1400 pages of genealogical information on these two lines. 3. Hi, several of us are working on info about James W. Byrd and we have a lot of questions. Does anyone have info on his first wife Macie McInvall? I have Macie born 7 Feb. 1880, marrying James 28 July 1896, in Monroe County, Al. Macie must have died, because James married Martha Jo Wright on 23 Sept 1906, Monroe County, Al. Martha Jo Wright also married William Bill Thomas Solomon. He died 3 Jan 1906. From these dates, it seems that Martha Jo married James Byrd shortly after WBT Solomon died. I have no children for them. Would like to hear from anyone who would share info with us. Thank you.
