Hi, This is in response to Shirley's question about Shortleaf and Yellow Pine, AL. I'm also new to the list and a novice genealogist. I thought I'd pass along this information. I'm not familiar with Shortleaf and couldn't find it on a map. Yellow Pine, AL, is located in Washington County which borders Mobile County to the North. Yellow Pine is almost on the Alabama-Mississippi line. The county seat is Chatom and I believe that is where you would write for vital records. I hope this helps.
