HELLO AGAIN! I have seen info written on 3 other websites that DIEGO MCVOY was the MAYOR of MOBILE in 1815. CAN ANYONE VERIFY THIS FOR ME? ALSO, if he was indeed the mayor, why then is his name horribly 'misspelled' on just about every census record and document he appears on? You would think that if he was indeed the mayor, that the records folks would at least be able to spell his name. HE WAS NOT A MCVEY! HE WAS NOT A MCVAY! HIS NAME WAS MCVOY! all though -- I believe somewhere down the line in IRELAND or SCOTLAND --we are all somehow related.(my theory.) Need info on WHERE in IRELAND and WHEN did JOHN/JUAN MCVOY come to WEST FLORIDA. He may have come through SAVANNAH,CHARLESTON,PENSACOLA,MOBILE or NEW ORLEANS in the mid 1700's.
