QUERY: MARTIN MCVOY,b.1825,d.4-22-1841 at age 17,buried at OLD CHURCH ST.GRAVELYARD in MOBILE. MARTIN,b.11-15-1825 was the son of WILLIAM MCVOY,SR.,(also known as GUILLERMO MACABOY,b.circa 1776 and died 1835)& his wf.MARGARET BYRNE MCVOY,(daugh of GERALD BYRNE and ANN PALMER ALLMAN BYRNE.) MARTIN MCVOY,b.1825 was the BROTHER of WILLIAM MCVOY,JR.,b.1812 (who was married to JOSEPHINE HERNANDEZ in PENSACOLA and resided there.) WHY DID MARTIN DIE SO YOUNG? He was only 17!!! I NEED TO KNOW "if" he was MARRIED before he died, and if so, WHO was his wife, and WHERE was she from? This is why: MY great grandfather was named CAPT.MARTIN N.MCVOY,b.5-14-1841 in PENSACOLA. I was told that he was raised in the home of WILLIAM MCVOY,JR. and his wife JOSEPHINE HERNANDEZ and that he was assumed to have been THEIR "son" which has been written in several different sources including the family records of MCVOY cousins in CALVERT CO MD. Apparently, from what I just learned today-- PERHAPS he was NOT really WILLIAM MCVOY,JR and wife,JOSEPHINE HERNANDEZ'S son, but INSTEAD,he was possibly their nephew who was orphaned.??????? IF SO, WHO WAS HIS REAL MOM? It appears that records from CAPT.MARTIN MCVOY'S(b.1841) wife ELIZA JANE COCHRANE MCVOY'S family in CALVERT CO MD "suggest" that MARTIN,b.1841's DAD was not WILLIAM MCVOY,JR, but instead, MARTIN MCVOY wo was WILLIAM,JR'S brother!!! THIS MYSTERY IS GETTING DEEPER! ***DOES ANYONE KNOW THE CAUSE OF MARTIN'S DEATH?(The MARTIN MCVOY who died in April 1841.) MARTIN MCVOY,b.1825--died on APRIL 22,1841--ONLY BUT DAYS BEFORE MY GREAT GRANDPA, CAPT.MARTIN N.MCVOY was born (MAY 14,1841)!!! I had just "assumed" that my great grandpa,MARTIN was named in honor of his "uncles" who were: (I thought-)MARTIN,b.1825 and also MARTIN MCVOY,b.1814-d.1869 (who was the son of his GREAT UNCLE, DIEGO MCVOY,SR.) DOES anyone on this list have access to any records that could tell me EXACTLY who MARTIN,b.1841's birth parents were? I would really appreciate any help!!! This MYSTERY gets deeper! My great grandpa,MARTIN,b.1841, apparently left FLORIDA sometime prior to 1861 and moved to CALVERT CO MD where he fought in the UNION ARMY cavalry 1861-1865 in MARYLAND. THE ENTIRE REST OF THE MCVOY FAMILY FOUGHT FOR THE CONFEDERACY! WHY would MARTIN MCVOY,b.1841, have fought for the UNION ?? If I find out the TRUTH about WHO was MARTIN,b.1825's wife (if he had one)-and her origins,perhaps that will help me solve my family mystery. I never even knew that my great grandpa was from PENSACOLA/MOBILE areas of what used to be SPANISH WEST FLORIDA until I found a MCVOY family will from PENSACOLA circa turn of the century and I asked my grandmother MCVOY-- who told me that my grandpa (another MARTIN MCVOY,b.18887)'s dad MARTIN,b.1841 was indeed from PENSACOLA. I don't have a clue which info is correct-WILLIAM,JR and JOSEPHINE MCVOY... or MARTIN MCVOY,d.1841 and????????? wf? I'm quite confused by all this conflicting info.
