I am currently looking for any information (land, obituary, marriage license, etc) pertaining to a Donald Sterling. He was born on Jun 22, 1908 and died in Aug of 1980 in Semmes, Mobile County, Alabama. His localities include Webster Park, IL; Spring Valley, IL; and Ottoville, IL. All are located in Bureau County. He had at least one child with a Jane (maiden name not known). And finally his SSN was issued in IL. Please help me if you are able. I am doing genealogy research and it's hard to figure out anything when your father is adopted and you know nothing about your father's whole side. Thanks for the help!

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/TS.2ADE/1751 Message Board Post: Trying to find any information on the possible death of John W. Wellborn (b. 1859 in Georgia) in Mobile, Alabama between the 1900 census and the 1910 census. He worked for the railroad and in 1900 was living in Montgomery. In 1910, his widow, Sallie/Sarah Harpe Wellborn was living with her brother-in-law and sister in Mobile and employed as a seamstress. She is not with the family in 1920, and, as she was only 40 in 1910, may well have remarried. I do not know that John died in Mobile, am also searching in Montgomery, but it is worth asking. I think it likely that Sallie remarried and that it is likely it was in Mobile. Any leads would be appreciated. Thanks! Karen Dutton

She was married to James Cole and among her children was a daughter named NaHomTima who married Jean (John) Cravat. Mary Shoemaker could indeed be Cherokee then rather than Choctaw. Indeed Shumaka was actually a member of Chackihuma (various spellings) tribe which was 'incorporated' into the Choctaw tribe. Angelyn

Everyone else has a different last name, but I thought my mother-in-law said it was Shoemaker. After reading your communication regarding Shumaka, I wonder if that could have been what she meant. She was supposed to be of indian descent, I thought Cherokee for a long time, but some family members of late, have said she might be Choctaw. She married a "Jim" (James Monroe) Youngblood. She had a hotel on indian land around 1900. In a picture sent to me she had daughters, Delphi and Cora and son Van standing in front of it.

Other brothers and sisters show birth info as Little River, Baldwin County and Waugh, AL. However, I have only found the family of Issac Brasley in Mobile, AL on the 1880 census (my gfather William age 8). On the 1900 the Brazleys had moved to Jackson county, Ms and New Orleans, La. On the 1870 census Brasly family also appears in Mobile, Al census. The name is spelled different ways on various census. I have not found information prior to 1870, since our family is African American. Is it possible the birth information is incorrect, I don't think people moved around that much.
