There is no Mathews Cemetery listed, but if you cannot find what you want in another cemetery, contact Cassandra Malone, who listed all the gravestones in each cemetery. She can probably help you.

Andres?] PIERROT in Mobile between 1870 and 1880. Would appreciate a lookup in the 1994 index published by the Mobile Genealogical Society. Andr. PIERROT, age 80, born in France, was enumerated with his son-in-law, Joseph A. Herman (Hermann) in Mobile in the 1870 US Census (M593-31-219). Although the son-in-law and family is still in Mobile in the 1880 US Census (T9-0025-489B), the old man does not appear. It is reasonable to assume, given his age, that he died before 1880. Knowing the date of death will help me in my search for probate and other such records.

Reason being is that beginning in the 1500s Croatia recognized the Austrian Monarchy as leaders of Croatia, later Croatia would be a Kingdom with in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. My branch of the family (James & family) were in southern Ontario (Hamilton and Elora/Guelph areas) and the eldest son, William James married and moved to the northern U.S. (exactly where is unknown at this time) and had 10 sons apparently. My great-grandfather, George Arkell visited his eldest brother and these cousins during school holidays. I wonder if William James and his descendants are any connection to the paper bag branch of the Arkell family? James, his father, came from Gloucestershire. Look forward to hearing from you. The Croatian sp is FRANELIC, which sounds like frrahnalich. The root is the male given name Frane (frrahnay, which means Frank) the IC ending is typical of many Croatian surnames and means son of.
