    3. Hello List, I'm wondering if anyone knows what happened to Martin-Chevalier Funeral Home. It was located in Mobile. My great aunt's funeral was handled by them in December 1947. I am attempting to obtain a Record of Funeral on her. Does anyone know whether the funeral home as bought by someone else, or if it simply closed down? Does anyone know where I might find the records? I would greatly appreciate any all help on this. Thanks so very much in advance. Hope that all have a wonderful day! Diana in Kansas

    1. McGowin/Adams/Culpepper
    2. Diane Sparks
    3. I am interested in locating any information on Joe Alec McGowin and Lillian Culpepper McGowin. Lillian and my grandmother were first cousins. Some of the facts I know are that Joe owned a newspaper in Mobile and he and Lillian were very well off. My grandmother told me that Lillian came to visit her in a Limo. Lillian is buried in Magnolia Cemetary in the McGowin Maseleum. Lillian and her sister Maude Adams made tremendous contributions and supported the Dauphin Way United Methodist Church. I have very little information on Maude. She married Lucius G. Adams and she died July 29 1973 in Alabama. I don't know where she is buried. Maude had a son named Lucius who married Margorie (last name unknown)Lillian and Maude's parents were Nancy Reese Culpepper and Henry Alexander Culpepper. Nance died in Bessemer and was buried there but later on Maude had her body moved to Pine Crest Cemetery in Mobile. I am assuming to place her beside or near her husband Henry Alexander Culpepper. I don't have a death date for Henry. Any and all help will be greatly apprecaited. Diane

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/TS.2ADE/1677.4 Message Board Post: I visited to Chastang cemetery yesterday and took a picture of Dr John and Louisan's gravesite. I also took some pictures of other Chastangs and remember seeing Pierre's tombstone, and I think I also took a pic of his tombstone. I don't remember seeing Ogive, but I think I did see the Auguste you might be looking for. My sister and I are doing a book about Ft. Stoddart in Mt Vernon and surrounding area and we are including the early residents of this area. Also visited the Andry cemetery there in Chastang. There are also graves in front of St Peter's Church with a collective headstone with names listed who are buried there. Vandals have really taken a toll on some of these very old headstones. Will be glad to share my pics with you when I get them developed. I know how you feel when you come up on that "brick wall". If you are interested let me know. Teresa
