I haven't found a death certificate for her...the last I know the she was alive was in 1881. I'd assume she was deceased by 1910 but just don't know. Her maiden name was Mary Jane Barrett (various spellings) and she married Augustus Salone in 1866. I've seen his name as Sloan, Solome, Solone, you get the picture. She had a daughter by Andrew Peters or Peterson in 1881, though I don't think they ever married. Thanks for offering to check for a death certificate, please let me know if you turn up anything or any costs involved. I'm at a bit of a dead end here! Scott

If she was buried in the Little Sisters of the Poor plot, it may have been a plot for paupers. I'm guessing that it was a plot for folks that didn't have anyone to pay for their funeral, but I'm not one to say. In my own research with my Mobile line, people that were buried in these types of plots were poor and didn't usually get a headstone. Or it could mean that she was associated with them in some other way. Have you searched for a death certificate for her? Would you like me to see if there is one at the library? They have the death certificates for Mobile only for the years 1876-1907. She may have a certificate in that batch. Let me know, I am going to the library one day this week......Marla

The next time I go to the library, I will look for an obit. I plan to go one day this week. Do you have his death certificate? Do you want me to scan and send it to you? It doesn't list his parents, which is odd since he was a minor. Let me know.....Marla

Moved with his family to the Mobile area between 1900 and 1910; believe he had a lumber company down that way. I've found his sons in Sunflower, Washington county, in the 1920 census. I work with the Dept. of Mental Health & Mental Retardation in Montgomery. I hope you have been able to find your Aunt. Since Brewer was a Mental Retardation facility, you might try writing to the Department of Mental Health & Mental Retardation, MR Division,100 North Union Street, Montgomery, Alabama 36104. They should have some type of record that shows who the clients/patients were at Brewer and where they had been moved. I hope this will help you if you have not already found the information you needed. Also, if you would like to E-Mail me back, the above E-Mail address for me is not any good anymore. You may E-Mail me at bebe_bledsoe@yahoo.com. Also, it shows my name as Sidney Bledsoe. This is my brother and I have no idea how his name got on "my stuff." My name is Suzanne Bledsoe, not Sidney Bledsoe.
