In case Joan Scanlon didn't get back to you, I show that Josephine's parents were Edward Lorandini/Laurending and Maria Theresa David. If you are still interested after talking with Laurendine authority #2 (Joan), please e-mail me at AristideL@aol.com. I'm totally lost on Elizabeth, though. I've spent the last week pouring through the microfilm of St.Joseph's church in Mobile. I'm going nuts trying to connect some of these names to people in my files. AJinLA
Does anyone know where New Hope Cemetery in the Mobile area is located? Thanks in advance. Donald
Hello, New Hope Cemetery? Or New Hope Gardens Cemetery? The latter is located just north of the intersection of Hillcrest and Old Shell Road, past University Baptist Church. Winters. Ruth was born in Michigan in December 1875 and lived her adult life in Mobile. I do not know her maiden name. Ruth and her first husband had a son Claude E. Wells. Ruth, Claude, and Joseph were living at the time of the 1930 census. Ruth also had a daughter Della who married Guy Hansen. Can anyone furnish me with date of death of any of these persons? or tombstone information? or any other clues that will help me identify Ruth and (ultimately) her parents? Thanks, Wayne

Surnames: Sloan, Saloan, Salone, Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/TS.2ADE/1816.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Scott, I have found little on your elusive Mary, and a little on her children! I spent more than an hour diggin' in records and books today and the only death record I found that was even close to her is a Mary Jane Peters that died on Christmas Day in 1901. Stating that she was 62 and married. However, is states that she was buried in Magnolia Cem. Most Mobilians were buried in Magnolia during that time. The caretaker at Magnolia said whenever you have conflicting records of a burial, the correct one is usually the coroner's return of death report. That's where the undertaker actually buried the body and wrote on his report. Where did you get the info that she was buried in the Catholic cem? I looked for all variations of Sloan, Peter(son) and so forth. I did not find her husband Guss either. Now on the death records there were about 4 Andrew Peterson's that died within a 5 year period, I didn't look at those because it never list the spouses name. Now on the 1910 Mobile ce! nsus, I see where Mary's daughter, Johanna, is married to a Charles Thompson, and living in the household is Johanna's brother, Andrew Peterson along with his wife Rosalie. I checked these sources with no luck, checking for any of Mary's spouses or children..... Catholic Cemetery Inscriptions (it only lists the headstones that were ledgible at the time of the transcription). Magnolia Cemetery Headstones Book (same as above-only headstones are recorded) Mobile Death records 1876-1908 I didn't look for an obit on Mary, I ran out of time and during that time, early 1900's and before, they didn't do much as far as obits in the papers unless it was an important or popular person. I will keep your names in mind, when I get another chance I will look at it again with a fresh start. I will scan and send you copies of the death records from my other email address. Marla
