    2. Tami Church
    3. Hello listers, I am looking for an obituary or anything that would verify that my great Aunt died in Mobile in 1988. Here is what I have: Her name was Lillian Mae Brewer........although in her brothers obit she is listed as Mae Brewer. She was born Jan 8, 1899 in Belmont Co, OH to William Henry Brewer and Nettie L. (Birch) Brewer. Her siblings were: Irwin Leith Brewer (3/26/1897 - 4/11/1958 in Kern Co, CA) Francis Meredith Brewer (3/8/1908 - 6/23/1983 Bradenton, FL) Virgil William Brewer (may have actually been illegitimate son.....family rumor) (born sometime during the 1910's-1920's I am assuming in Cuyahoga County, OH - ????) She may have had children listed as Billy Ryan and Rita (nee Ryan) ? She may have died in December of 1988 in Mobile, AL. Can anyone help? TIA, Tami A. (Brewer) Church in Ohio researching: BREWER, BIRCH, BRADY, BRIGGS, WATSON, GROHOSKI, PULASKI, PORTERFIELD, ECKLER, and many others!!

    2. Kathleen
    3. Does anyone on this list know of a Slave Ship what went down in the Mobile Bay late 1700's or early 1800s. In my family "word of mouth" history there is a story of such a happening. Most were lost on the ship, though a few did make it to shore. The Ship Captain or Owner would have been a man by the surname of Peairs or Pearce. Kathleen Burnett

    2. Poor House Lady
    3. Recently I announced my new website called The POORHOUSE STORY at http://www.poorhousestory.com It is a clearinghouse for information about 19th century American poorhouses. I need a little help. First...duh...is the city of Mobile in Mobile County? Then.... Can someone verify for me whether the Providence Infirmary in Mobile ALABAMA was first a poorhouse? Any information about this building (and its function) will be appreciated. A picture postcard of this place is being advertised on eBay at http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=387805637 I have adopted the practice (which may send me to a poorhouse!) of trying to purchase poorhouse memorabilia (especially photographs)in order to preserve it for the historical record. If none of you want to buy it and copy it for submission to The POORHOUSE STORY website <hint, hint>...please help me verify that it was, indeed, a poorhouse (or NOT) and that will help me decide whether to buy it myself to post and share with you.
