    1. Captain Jesse J. Cox - died at Mobile 1869
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/TS.2ADE/1737 Message Board Post: Looking for the burial spot of Captain Jesse J. Cox, of the Steamboat FASHION, a regular Packet that ran between Mobile and Wetumpka before the war. Cox also commanded the Steamboat SAINT NICHOLAS. A resident of Autauga County, Cox joined the Prattville Dragoons during the war. He was elected Captain of the Company. The March 10, 1869 edition of the Montgomery Mail records his death.... We are deeply pained to learn of the death of Captain Jessee J. Cox which occurred in Mobile on Tuesday evening last. Captain Cox has been an old and highly esteemed citizen of this section of the State, and is well known as one of most popular and successful steamboat captains on the Alabama River... I do not know that Captain Jesse J. Cox is buried in Mobile, but I have been unable to locate his burial spot in Autauga or Montgomery Counties. He is not buried in the Cox Family Cemetery in Autauga County or the Oak Hill City Cemetery on Wetumpka Street in Prattville. Any help locating his grave or information about where to look will be greatly appreciated. Barry N. Wyatt http://groups.msn.com/AutaugaatWar

Surnames: Pierce, Poore Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/TS.2ADE/1730.2 Message Board Post: The Mobile Gazette & Commercial Advertiser for April 4, 1820, exists on microfilm available at the Local History and Genealogical Division of the Mobile Public Library. Obits, as such, didn't exist in 1820. This is more likely a news story on Alvares' life and death. Since you have the column and page numbers you obviously found a source that cites the Alvares story. Such stories were often carried for several editions and perhaps this one was as well.

Young (1 Mar 1918) with the following info provided: Volume 8, Roll 2, page 341. Where are these volumes held? Are there any books at the county level that would provide additional data to ensure it is the right record before ordering anything from the state? Would someone be willing to do a lookup for an obit at the library? I believe this is Mary Waters Young, first wife to Martin Young Sr.
