Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/TS.2ADE/1738.1 Message Board Post: I have a Josefina Laurendine born 20 June 1811 who married Joseph Burriel 9April1828. Her father was Edward Laurendine who died 30 December 1832. He was one of the children of Jean Baptiste Lorandini and Lucia Coulleret ( who was his half sister's daughter)JB was the child of Pierre Lorandini ( Florence, Italy) and Marie Ann Fourchet ( a casket girl from France). They immigrated to Mobile, Alabama which may have been known then as the Louisiana Territory. They were the beginning of the Laurendine and many, many other families. I think I have all this straight. Correct me anyone who reads this if I left out a generation somewhere. Joan

My brother WWL III tells me that there is a street that intersects named Waller. He says he has a picture of himself at the intersection but I haven't seen it. I'mj close enough to that area to go take a ride. I live in Slidell, La. By the way we are replete with Laurent's here and I have always wondered about any connection. They are very mixed heritage. The Lacombe, LA. community has beaucoup Laurents of mixed race. That's right up the road from where I live and I work there. So if you have any connections let me know. Lacombe has a museum and a creole society. Joan

    1. Laurendine Family of Mobile - FPC connection
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/TS.2ADE/1738 Message Board Post: Margaret Cornelia Rabeale, FPC, had a daughter named Louise Laurendine in 1850. Two of her other children had the last name of Barrial, and one had the name Green. Josephine Laurendine, daughter of Jodeph Laurendine married Joseph Barrial, Jr.; Josephine's brother was Joseph W. Laurendine. Joseph Barrial, Jr. left money/property to Margaret Cornelia Rabeale's sister, probably for Margaret Cornelia's children. It seems likely that this set of brothers-in-law were the fathers of Margaret Cornelia Rabeale's children. This is probably the origin (or one of the origins) of the FPC Laurendines. Someone told me that the Laurendines were descended from an Italian immigrant to Florida named Lorandini. Since Josephine Laurendine Barrial later married Anatole Raby, Sr. (a number of greats uncle of mine), I am interested in the Laurendine family and would love to get information on their origins.

Here's another Laurendine-Weeks connection triggered by the name Remy. Simon Weeks (b. 28 Oct. 1840) married Clementine Laurendine (b. Oct 1845) on April 24, 1867 in Mobile. They had 3 children: Charles P. Weeks (b. 1869), Mary Esther Weeks (b. 1 Jan. 1870), Antonio Weeks (b. 17 Jan. 1872) and Camilla C. Weeks (b. July 1873). Camilla married William Remy on 25 April 1893 and they had 2 sons: John Ramey (1894) and Charles William Remy 1897. I have no further info on them. But William Remy, who wed Camilla Weeks had the following siblings: Alice (1859), John (1861), Francis (1864), William (1866), Mary (1869) and Robert E. Remy (1871). So if you are ever able to connect then to anyone in your lineage, good luck!

Marie Inez Hermann b. around 1901 was the daughter of Olivia Remy (?) and ? Hermann. They also had Liston Paul Hermann dob unknown but younger than Marie Inez. and Mildred Hermann who married a man named Wilton, last name unknown. Liston Paul Hermann had one son with his first wife Hyacinth (last anme unknown). He was Paul Liston Hermann born in 1939 married to June ? in the late 1950's parents of three children. That's all she can remember now and she's unsure of the Remy but she knows my Dad had cousins named Remy and feels strongly that they were on my grandmother's side. I remember the Remy's very well. They lived in New Orleans in the 1950's and 60's and their was only one sister and she was a dwarf. Her name was Alva Remy but my Dad called her Dit.
