He was a Mulato b.1835 in Mobile, Al. I'm trying to find his father and mothers' names. I have his Civil War penison info but it does not give his parents info. I also have a death cert (from Jackson County, Ms), but it also does not give his parents names. I have a copy of a Baptismal record (in Spanish) of Augustus Chastang from Mar, 1788. I've been told this was his father. I have a large gap of time that I need to fill in the blanks of my ancestory. I have copies of census records, but the names John and Augustus were common with the Chastangs. I live in Calif and need help. Thanks. Anne

The death certificate you referenced is, indeed, my grandfather's. The doctor must have been in a hurry and pressed for time ... very little information filled out. Even the cause of death is illegible. He died very young and his history prior to marriage is well hidden. Maybe there's something there that I may not really want to know. I appreciate your taking the time to reply. Thanks again. Bill
