Linda, do you know if the Bastardy Bonds were a legal document only for the colonial laws of the original thirteen states? The few I had seen were in the Carolina's and gave a lot of information. It appeared that they were viewed as a document to place a legal right on the child and to guareente that they would not become a ward of the state. It appearently was viewed as a part of normal society and not something of shame.
