The last name spelling has two variations but cross referencing has ensured application to my family ancestors regardless of the spelling. Seeking information on MARY IDA SMITH(nee PEEK/PEAK)bn.Jan.13,1874 in Marshall Co.AL. Mother was Louvina PEEK/PEAK of Pendergrass,AL. which was a small Post Office community on Sand or Gunter Mtn. Louvina lived near Morgan's Store in 1907,Mary Ida was married and unk where she lived but thought to be nearby as her Mother's family settled in Marshall Co.in the early 1840's. Mother's name wa Ju-dah PEEK/PEAK nee HENSON. Ju-dah is my grgrGrandmother and was m.to James Russell PEEK/PEAK,my grgrgrandfather who died before the family(13 children) moved to AL.Most of the family settled in Marshall,Jackson and perhaps DeKalb and other nearby areas and many are buried in Guntersville.If you have any info on this pioneering Cherokee family,please contact me.
