    3. Posted on: Marshall Co. Al Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Al/Marshall/10134 Surname: Mitchel, Grubb ------------------------- Hello: It is possible, there is a connection. Golden or Gideon- was a Creek indian he told us the family. His people he said were originally form TX. I suppose his mom could have been Creek abd dad Cherokee. He was a full blood . The biggest problem for me is the fact that I have no family members for him. He moved to Ky in 1838-39. he born in 1822. So he was young then. This is all I know about him before KY for sure. I think maybe he was from N Alabama. Probably old Madison co.- marshall co AL..BUt cant prove it. This Kara Collins says she feels he wasin the Merrell Robinson reservation in there. But I havent heard from her in months. She was gonna look at some records. I havent heard from her since..? I am looking thru a book of Cherokee entitlements for reservations in 1819 in N. AL GA and Tn.. But I dont see any Mitchels. Golden F. Mitchel was sometimes written as Gideon F Mitchel. The only thing in this book remotely similiar is a Gideon F. Morris on the reservation of Alan Grubb. This near Eastanoly Creek. Do you know where this was? It was in around the marshall co Madison county I guess in 1819, area of Alabama. There are several names in this reservation: Mong major- 19 i assume years old just a number next to name Wallee-73 Johnson 77 Amache 79 Jnnagaskee 24 Culvonce 87 Betsy McIntosh 92 Bold Hunter 94 Pail Kolle 96 Jn. Coody 97 G. Kile 41 G.F. Morris 42 J. Hildebrand 68 Wm Reed 44 Mcdonald 47 Jn Welch 59 Alleach 63 Jn Miller 66 Gallanooskee 67 i wish I had something other than his name to give you. But i dont. I need to find someone that has a Golden or Gideon in the family that can go back to 1822 or earlier. Thats hard to find records that far back. I figure alot of the Mitchell people i talk with are related. But they dont go back any further than I can with him. It is frustrating. Help! Lisa

    1. [ALMARSHA] LISTOWNER: The GenFourm chain letter
    2. Kim Ivey
    3. Listmembers, I'm sure by now most of you have seen a message floating around regarding Genealogy.com selling messages that are posted to GenForum message boards. It hasn't appeared on this list yet, but I thought I would beat somebody to the punch. The message kind of gives the impression that GenFourm is connected with RootsWeb and/or Ancestry.com. I want to take this time to clear up some things. 1) GenFourm belongs to Genealogy.com not to RootsWeb or Ancestry.com. Any info you post to a RootsWeb message board or mailing list will not be sold. 2) The powers that be at Genealogy.com have denied this allegation, and well I believe them regardless of the stories that go around about them. So, if you get a copy of this message, the best thing you can do is delete it with the rest of the junk mail. You would think these people would spend their time and money looking for ancestors rather than spouting off garbage, oh well......... I apologize for the interruption. I know this is the second time in as many days that I've had to post a warring about a chain letter that affects RootsWeb. I wish these crazy people would get a life....or at least spend their online time more productively. Well....anyway...back to regularly scheduled programming. If anyone has any comments about this, please e-mail me privately.

    1. [ALMARSHA] LISTOWNER: New Rule--please read
    2. Kim Ivey
    3. Listmembers, In the interest of privacy I have created a new rule. From now on, please do not forward messages to the list unless you have permission from the original author, and then state in the message that you have permission from the author. This means that if your Aunt Fanny sends you an e-mail with family info, don't send it to the list unless you have Aunt Fanny's permission, and when you do get Aunt Fanny's permission please say something to the effect that "I have Aunt Fanny's permission to forward this" or something like that. The reason I made this rule is this. People who send you messages may not want the whole world to read it. And if you forward personal messages without permission, you may have done more than just tick somebody off. That somebody could seek legal action if he/she wanted to. And it's just plain good manners to ask first. If anybody has any questions about this, please contact me privately. Thank you for your time. I apologize for the interruption, and try to keep my "Listowner" message to a minimum. Now back to regularly scheduled programming. Sincerely, Kim Ivey kivey@companet.net

    1. [ALMARSHA] LISTOWNER: familydiscovery.com scam
    2. Kim Ivey
    3. Linda and Everyone, I usually don't allow post like this on the list, but since this is a real problem and not a hoax, and because it involves RootsWeb and the data we post to the various lists, boards, GenWebs, etc., I feel it is necessary to pass this information along. I posted a message to this list a few days ago regarding this same thing. The best thing you can do with messages you get from familydiscovery.com is delete it with the rest of the junk e-mail you get and inform other researchers of this scam. RootsWeb is aware of this, and they have already been reported to the appropriate agencies for fraud. I also want to make it clear that nobody has to pay anything to access lists, GenConnect boards, databases, and webpages at RootsWeb. If you receive an offer saying that for a fee you will get access to stuff at RootsWeb, please contact me or someone at RootsWeb immediately. RootsWeb simply won't stand for companies who try to profit from our hard work while taking advantage of innocent people. At this time I request any further comments on the familydiscovery.com scam be directed to me privately. I apologize for getting off topic, but under the circumstances, I felt it necessary to discuss this. Thank you for your patience. Sincerely, Kim Ivey kivey@companet.net Listowner

    1. [ALMARSHA] Discovery Family scam info.
    2. Linda S. Patton
    3. Have any of you received spam from a place called DiscoveryFamily.com? I know I read about it on one of the lists I belong to, and now can't remember which one. I have received at least two advertisements from this place. I am told they charge a membership fee for accessing research sites, most of which are free to us anyway, and they provide the link. New researchers would not be aware of this. I wanted to pass the word along, and if anyone is interested, or if you want more information on reporting them posted to the list please let me know. I received that information this afternoon. Their letter to me was entitled something like "Thank you for your continued support...." Its a pity that people like that are out there taking advantage of others. So, the more complaints submitted the better. 3. Hello, I am reseaching the Brasseale family of Blount, Marshall and Etowah Counties. This is quite a difficult family to resaearch, because of the various ways of spelling the Brasseale name. My line goes back to Elias Brasseale, who came to Alabama before 1830. Elias had several children that lived in the area mentioned above. If anyone is researching them please email me.
