Hello, just found out my gggrandfather was John H.(Hiram ?)Walker b. abt. 1830-1835 and wife Margaret Whatley born in AL. Their daughter Eliza Ann Walker b. 1853 married my ggrandfather Allen Zachariah Bowen from Tuscaloosa, AL and raised a large family there. Just discovered in 1850 Marshall Co. census a John H. Walker age 24 and a Margaret V.? age 21 with one child Mary J.age 1. Wondering if they later had a daughter named Eliza Ann. Hoping someone might have a line on them or access to the 1860 Marshall Co. census for a lookup. Thanking you in advance for any help. Listmembers, I declare the week of 3 June-9 June 2000 as sharing week. There are a few rules, so please read this message carefully before jumping in. Rules: 1) Please put names/dates/places in the subject line. Do not use ambiguous subject lines such as "my lines", "sharing", "my brick walls", "roll call", etc. Remember, most people don't read each and every list message. They read the ones with subject lines that are of interest. 2) Only 3 surnames per message, however, you can send as many messages as you like. 3) Any query format is acceptable. You can just put a list of names, a report copied from your genealogy program, or whatever. 4) Include your e-mail address. Don't always count on the reply button. 5) Do not post information on living people. This is to protect their privacy. Now I want to discuss how the "Reply" button works on this list. I have this list set to reply to sender. That means when you hit the reply button your message won't go to the list, but to the person who sent the message you hit reply to. So, to send new messages to the list it's always best to put the list address in the "To" field. If you don't, then when you hit reply to a message just to get yours on the list, it won't go there, it will go to the person who sent that message. Ok, that's it. Let's get busy composing our queries. Good luck to everyone! Sincerely, Kim Ivey <kivey@companet.net> Listowner
The 1870 Marshall Co census lists a Franklin Chandler, Kennamer P.O., page 087. Does anyone have information on the is family? Does anyone have a census detail for this family? My grandpa, William Franklin Chandler, was born in 1906 AR. According to his SS application his father, Frank Chandler, was born in AL. Grandpa's father died shortly after his birth and his mother came back to AL (probably Franklin Co area) bringing at least one stepson, Chester born ca. 1895. Frank may not be his given name, but who knows. Any help would be appreciated. Cynthia/East Peoria, IL

Barnard (b.1813, AL) was my gg grandfather, presumably in what is now Marshall County. He married Millie Fry (b.1818, AL) in 1836. I have a lot of information on their descendants from the north side of the Tennessee River; however, nothing about his parents or siblings. I know there are a lot of Barnards who live south of the Tennessee River and I wonder whether they have any information on their lineage. Perhaps together we could discover additional information. I would be pleased to exchange information anyone related to Barnards. H.V. Barnard hbarnard@coin.org
