    1. [ALMARSHA] LISTOWNER: Weekend Sharing
    2. Kim Ivey
    3. Listmembers, I have come up with an idea that I think will help us all find our elusive ancestors. I have decided that every Friday and Saturday will be "Sharing Weekend". The rules are as follows: 1) Put your surnames (along with dates and places if you like) in the subject line. 2) Only 3 surnames per message, but you can send as many messages as you want. 3) The message body can be anything.....a list of names, a formal query, something copied from your genealogy program, etc. 4) Do not post info on living people. That's it. Sharing Weekend will begin Friday, 15 June, 2001 and will occur every weekend until I say otherwise. I hope this will benefit all of us. Everybody have fun and happy hunting! Sincerely, Kim Ivey kivey@companet.net Listowner

    1. [ALMARSHA] LISTOWNER: Auto-reply
    2. Kim Ivey
    3. Listmembers, I would like to remind all of you that if for any reason you have the auto-reply feature of your e-mail program turned on, please make sure you either a) exclude the mailing lists you are on (if that's possible) or b) unsubscribe from mailing lists until you are ready to start reading your e-mail again. For those of you that don't know, an auto-reply is like one of those "I'm on vacation" messages you can have sent in reply to any e-mail you receive (like the one that we recently saw on this list). Not all e-mail programs have this feature. If you would like more info on auto-reply e-mail me privately or check the documentation that came with your e-mail program). I am more than happy to answer any technical questions you may have. I may not always know the answer, but I'll do my best. Thank you, Kim Ivey kivey@companet.net Listowner

    1. [ALMARSHA] Cheek Reservation, Marshall Co, near Guntersville
    2. Brenda Hudson
    3. Is anyone familiar with the Cheek Reservation located in Marshall County AL in the years around 1880-1890 or so? It was a Cherokee Reservation and was just NW of the Gunter Reservation and SE of the Thompson Reservation. Also, I am searching for any information concerning my great grandparents, Robert E (Dock) WILKINS and Fannie FLOYD WILKINS. Primarily their time was spent in GA where both were born, all of their children were born in Chattooga Co, GA except for one, Earnie WILKINS born 12-15-1887 on the Cheek Reservation in Marshall Co, AL. I do not know where they were after they left the reservation, but I do know that the entire family was in Bossier Parish, LA in 1910, per the Federal Census for that year. In 1910, Robert E Wilkins was 60 years old. Robert E (Dock) WILKINS parents were alleged to have walked the Trail of Tears, but I am not able to find out their names thus far, so anyone with help or suggestions of where to look will be appreciated. My search has been a long and difficult one, so I don't expect it to get any easier!! But, 3 years ago when I started all I know was my own grandfather's name and nothing else, so progress is being made!!! Thanks for any information, websites, or suggestions! Brenda Wilkins Hudson
