Thought I would see if you have any info on my Darnell: Robert Darnell born in New London, Missouri 7/9/1888 to George & Mary (no known maiden name) Darnell. There was a sibling Edgar Darnell born in Monroe Cty, Missouri 2/4/1890. I believe they were in Illinois at on point because Robert married my mother in 1935 and she was from Illinois. She was born in Quincy, Illinois 8/3/1917 to William Tallman and Viola (Vera?) Stanley. Her parents were Alex & Harriet Stanley. William Tallman's year of birth was approximately 1892 in Maywoord, Missouri. Viola's (Vera?) year of birth was approximately 1893 in New Canton, Illinois. Robert Darnell's first marriage was to a woman named Cora and they had a son Estel Darnell born approximately 7/26/09. Thx, Susan

    1. [ALMARSHA] Benson, Parker and Ayres of late 1800's Marshall Cty.
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Benson, Parker and Ayres Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/SS.2ADE/166 Message Board Post: I am researching the families of my great grandfather John Harvey Benson (Willis) who was born in Jan.22, 1873 in Marshall County, AL. His father was William Benson, I am unsure which William because there were many in the county by that name at the time. Apparently Johns birth mother, whose name is unknown died because William married Sarah E. Parker in 1876. Sarah raised John and she and William had 3 children together. They were Frank, Maggie and Zack. William Benson died when Zack was very small. Sarah wanted to be near her brother William Mathis Parker who had moved to Palmer, Texas. (William and Sarah Parkers mother was Nancy Parker). John was grown and married to Emma Ayres- her parents names are not known. The two families moved to Texas (Ellis County)- Sarah and her 3 younger children and her step son John Benson and his family. Sarah died not long after arriving in Texas and is buried in the Palmer Cemetery. John and his family moved from Ellis County, Te! xas to Scurry which is in Kaufman County and he finished raising his younger siblings. Even though I am only descended from the Bensons, my cousins here are down the Parker and Ayres lines and we would appreciate any help with those families. Thank you very much.

Nixon is my ggggrandfather and I am trying to establish his connections so I really don't know for sure who his parents or siblings were. It's beginning to look like his father is Mansfield Nixon and his mother was Elizabeth who married a Hatcher before 1850. John B. Nixon was born in Apr 1845 and he married Ahenoam "Hinny" or "Hurry" Childress, daughter of Rev. Isaac Childress and Ahenoam (presumed to be a Cherokee). They were living in ED 94 in 1900 in the Thompson area. I don't know if this is near Nixon's chapel or not. John B. Nixon and Ahenoam had the following children: Irena J. Nixon (20 Feb 1870 TN - 5 Sep 1963 Marshall Co, AL) mrd Wm Dixon McClendon Samantha Gay Nixon - my gggrandmother (28 May 1872 AL - 8 Dec 1960 Comanche, Stephens, OK) mrd Samuel Lusers Strange Martha E Nixon (Jan 1875 AL - Sep 1931 Etowah Co, AL) mrd Wm Martin Bearden Isaac C Nixon (abt 1876 AL ) married Delia D. Ahenoam B. "Hinny" Nixon (Jul 1877 AL ) mrd James Zachary Collins Julius W Nixon (Apr 1883 AL ) mrd Mary Chamblee John B Nixon Jr (Jul 1888 Marshall Co, AL - abt 1900 Marshall Co, AL) I have to say that the response to the census lookup has been tremendous and I thank everyone who has responded. It makes me so proud that part of my heritage comes from Marshall Co, AL!
