I suspect this phrase refers to a religious group they were a part of...but have no idea for sure. They would write: "How is the Connection?" Does anyoen know what this phrase refers to? I don't have an answer to your question, but I have one of my own for you. Which Wylie's are you researching? I have a brick wall - William Richard Wylie. According to the 1860 Census in Allen Factory, Marion County, Richard Wylie, born in 1813 in GA, married to Mary, having 10 children listed - one of which is Matilda Clementine (b. 1845) who married Isaac Estill. Others are Rebecca, Elisabeth, Amelia, Sarah C., Mary C, Nancy, Josiah, Martha, and Josephine). The Census lists him as Richard but Matilda's death certificate states her fathers name was William. I think this is the correct family but not sure if I have her connected to the right family. I haven't found any other information on them after 1860 Census. Does anyone have any information about this family. Anything will be appreciated.
