Barbara, I am responding to your question to Joel regarding Catherine Matilda Fikes and James Hamilton Mann. I might shed a little light on them, but I don't know the connection to Susan Harris & Robert W. Mann. My information shows Matilda Catherine Fikes, born January 1, 1858 in Georgia; died February 12, 1935 in Marion County, AL She married James Hamilton Mann who was born December 18, 1853 in Georgia and died September 1, 1926 in Alabama.They are both buried at Mt. Home Church of Christ Cemetery in Bear Creek, Marion Co., AL. Following are their children: 1. Living, unknown 2. Living, unknown 3. Monroe R. Mann, born March 12, 1877; died August 27, 1944. He married Clarise Ann Britnell November 21, 1895 4. Drucilla Mann, born September 12, 1878 in Georgia, died February 1, 1953. She married Larkin Britnell December 19, 1895 5. James Alfred Mann, born March 28, 1880 in Alabama, died January 2, 1941 in Bear Creek, Marion Co., AL 6. Alice Mary Mann, born March 14, 1882 in Alabama and died December 19, 1953 7. John Oliver Mann, born May 8, 1884 in Alabama, died September 24, 1974 8. Henry Burton Mann, born June 27, 1887 9. Burley R. Mann, born February 12, 1891, died April 15, 1967 10. Willie Mann born April 9, 1893, died April 17, 1919 11. Martha Jane Mann, born June 14, 1897 in Alabama, died April 3, 1981 12. Sarah Elizabeth Mann, born January 16, 1900 in Alabama, died August 12, 1968 Matilda Catherine Fikes is the daughter of Hiram Fikes and Mary Lagrone. They had a son named Robert Emanuel Fikes who is my husband's great-grandfather. The Robert Kim Palmer, son of Joseph Washington Palmer and Rebecca Ann Brown is my husband's grandfather. He married Mary Idella Fikes, who is the daughter of Robert Emanuel Fikes. Hope that didn't confuse you too much! I just wanted to tell you my connection. In the year 2000, I received a large package of information on the Fikes family from Shirlee Tate (shirlee@hsnp.com). She lives in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Maybe one of the living children that is not named could be Robert W. Mann. I looked through what I had but didn't find a Harris connection. If I can help you in any other way, just let me know.
