    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Dickinson, Kemp Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/RS.2ADE/4.108.112.346.344.2.1.1.1.1.2.1.1 Message Board Post: Thank you so much for your reply! My problem with John J. Dickinson Sr. and Elizabeth O'Neal being John J. Dickinson's parents are the following: 1. John J. Dickinon Jr. was born --1813-1816--John J. Dickinson Sr. and Elizabeth O'Neal were married in 1820 in Habersham county Georgia-- 2. The two Johns didn't arrive in Marion county alabama at the same time--John Jr. married Mary A. Kemp in Alabama before 1850--when John Sr. was just arriving. 3. They never lived near one another--never saw them near each other--no familial connection there. No mention of any other Dickinson's in John J. Jr;s Probate records--Guardianship of the 2 little boys was given to Susannah Nix's father--John L. Nix. 4. They were on opposite sides of the war--John Sr--Confederacy--John Jr--Union. Every friend, associate of John Jr. was a Union Loyalist--buried in Logan-Burelson Cemetery--all Union Loyalists--Probate mentions many neighbors--friends--Union Loyalists. All these things could have happened with John Sr. and Elizabeth being the parents of John Jr.--but the more I look into it --the more I wonder. That was my first conclusion--Wrote to Betty Dickinson who wrote the Dickinson Book in the Winfield Library--She sent me many, many research documents--never saw a solid connection between the two men. But I'm open to anything here--just want to know who belongs to who!
