I was also told that John Beattie raised them and he had two children by Rachel Matilda. I have a picture of Sarah Elisabeth Jane Dykes-Baughn, with two of her daughters that were named Emmeline Matilda Baughn-Davis, and Elisabeth Jane Baughn- Cagle. I questioned an Aunt that knew the story, she passed away last year and she mentioned some other surname of Dickinson as being the actual father of at least my Sarah,,,?? Please contact me, as I am interested in getting what information you can provide, as some of the stories are just that stories, nothing to really go by. Only names.
