    2. Good news, Abigail! The William Stanford of "The Stanford Family" article is the father of your Thomas who married Martha . There is a very nice article listing children of Thomas and Martha and some info about each. Might be worth a trip to your local library. 1. Re: [ALMARION] FW: Re: Heritage Book for Marion County
    2. Hi Linda, I am sure everyone appreciates the time it takes to look something up for them. I was not trying to discredit your help in any way, just trying to help thinking I possibly could have an updated version to yours as stated in one of my replies along with where the book could be purchased. For some reason the admin was holding my e-mails stating I was not a member to the list when I have been for a long time so I do not know in what order or how many times my e-mails were sent. I still do not know if you have an earlier version than the one I have but can only assume we have the same version based on your response. Again, I am sure everyone is thankful for any and all help you give. Like you said, to look up every mention would be monumental which is why I gave the contact information to purchase book based on how many times the persons last name was mentioned. I do not have the time to give everyone who asked a count of name mentions much less anything else. However I have found in my own personal research any information given, even if it is a mention in some obscure section, is helpful sometimes, as well as some of the history of Marion county. I ordered the book based solely on the known region of my ancestors, not knowing if or how many times the surnames I was searching for was listed. I was very lucky. So I am sure anyone asking would appreciate your help and perhaps if warranted buy the book themselves if they knew where to find it. Sincerely; Charles Clark -------------- Original message -------------- From: LindaLpearson@aol.com > What everyone needs to know about this book is that it is divided into > sections: > > Officer and Participants > Introduction > Overview of Marion County, AL > Businesses > Clubs and Organizations > ities and Government > Cemeteries > Schools and Education > Spiritual Heritage > General Articles > Veterans of the Revolutionary War, the Mexican War, and the War of 1812 > Veterans of the Civil War > Veterans of WWI > Veterans of WWII > Veterans of the Korean War > Veterans of the Vietnam War > Military Veterans - General > Families > Late Submittals > 50 Years or More of Marriage > Tributes, Memorials, and Business Histories > and the Index > > The Index list every time a family name is mentioned any where in the book. > It is a very large book, with two columns per page and very small print. 1. Re: [ALMARION] Griffin White
    2. I would be interested in knowing more about Griffin White. My gg grandmother Elizabeth White married Meredith Duke abt 1840 in Marion County GA; and migrated to Marion County AL in the 1850's. I believe that her brother James White came to AL earlier; Am trying to determine if my Whites are connected to Griffin White's line. I don't think they are; but would like to explore the possibility before I dismiss it. Thanks Dorothy Duke Rhodes > > From: "Joyce or Bill Nesmith" <bjnesmith@bellsouth.net> > Date: 2007/07/05 Thu AM 08:23:45 EST > To: <ALMARION-L@rootsweb.com> > Subject: [ALMARION] Griffin White > > Griffin White received a land grant in Marion County in the mid 1800's and lived there until about 1870 when he moved his family to Savannah, Tennessee. His wife's maiden name was Julia Rhea. Their daughter, Mary Jane White married Robert Lewis Clark, son of William Lee Clark, the second son of William and Chloe Clark, who were among the original settlers in Marion County. Does anyone have information about Julia Rhea? I am searching for the names of her parents. > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ALMARION-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message >

    1. Re: [ALMARION] FW: Re: Heritage Book for Marion County
    2. What everyone needs to know about this book is that it is divided into sections: Officer and Participants Introduction Overview of Marion County, AL Businesses Clubs and Organizations ities and Government Cemeteries Schools and Education Spiritual Heritage General Articles Veterans of the Revolutionary War, the Mexican War, and the War of 1812 Veterans of the Civil War Veterans of WWI Veterans of WWII Veterans of the Korean War Veterans of the Vietnam War Military Veterans - General Families Late Submittals 50 Years or More of Marriage Tributes, Memorials, and Business Histories and the Index The Index list every time a family name is mentioned any where in the book. It is a very large book, with two columns per page and very small print. In other words, it would be a monumental task to look for every mention. For example: the Hamilton family is mentioned on 180 different pages in this book. What I have looked for when someone asks is an article in the family section, which compromises the biggest section of the book -- 376 pages of a total 534 pages. If this help is acceptable to anyone, I will be more than happy to continue. Linda ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
