    3. Just got this notice at work, thought it might interest some of the researchers on the List. The National Cemetery Administration's nationwide gravesite locator is now available to the public on the Internet at www.cem.va.gov. The web-based search engine contains 3.2 million burial records dating back to the Civil War era. The gravesite locator allows visitors to conduct basic and advanced searches using predetermined data fields. The names, date of birth and death, military service dates, branch of service, cemetery and grave location are displayed for all records that meet the search criteria. The database, updated daily, includes burial records dating back to 1999 for VA's 120 national cemeteries, some state veterans cemeteries and Arlington Nation Cemetery.

    3. The Wylie families lived on east and west banks (and beyond) of the Wylie Branch (officially, West Fork of the Buttahatchee River). The Wylie family that I remember from the 1940s & early 1950s lived along existing Hwy 241 (in a dog-trot home; at the crossroads leading to the George Whitehead water-mill on Wylie Branch). This Wylie home would have been located in T10S, R11W (don't have section #; roughly 2.5 miles no. of Whitehouse). John Nixon Wylie & wives Nancy Jane Nelson and Mary Bell Peppers are all buried at Old Ireland cemetery, I think. According to map by Univ of Alabama Geography/Cartography Dept, Old Ireland is located in T10S, R11W, Sec 9 - it has 14 graves and is known to have been active during the period 1883-1931 (from gravestone data; perhaps active in 1834 if burial place for Nancy Jane Nelson).
