Go to www.familysearch.org and from there to Family History Library/Catalog. If you search for Burleson as a subject, it will pull up everything they have. The good news is that, if you can't get to SLC for the books, they have a lot of family histories on microfilm, which you can order from your nearest Family History Center. > > At least it will give you some titles to search for. My g-g-g-grandmother was Mittie Ann Waters born in GA or SC had a younger brother named John. I believe I located her family in the 1860 census for Rabun Co, GA town of Persimmon District 636. Info from census is: Drury Waters age 38 born SC ?Debra A age 33 born SC Mittie A age 11 born SC James J age 10 born SC Mary E(Elizabeth) age 8 born SC Sarah age 6 born SC Malinda age 5 born SC John B or R age 3? born in SC Eliason? age 10/12 mo born in SC This same family minus Mittie Ann and James were located in the 1870 census in Marshall Co, town of Guntersville in Alabama. Ages are good matches and names are definitely a match. New children are also on this census. Mittie married William Wheeler & lived in TN - on 1870 census for Greene Co, TN. I then followed John to Lawrence Co, AL which matches your information. Would love to correspond with you to see if we have any further information we could share. Thank you, Norma York

TORIES OF THE HILLS, Page 240 When young Tom Nix finally reached Memphis and found his brother- in- law, John Mitchell,he told the sad story.
The 1860 Marion County, AL census lists the following record of the John Mitchell family. 1860 Marion County, AL Pikeville P. O., Western Dist. #725/658, p578 at GenWeb Archives John Mitchell, age 29. SC Lucinda, wife, age 29, SC Martha, age 14, SC Permelia, age 12, SC James, age 10, SC Mary, age 6, SC Malinda, age 4, AL Nancy, age 1, AL I'm trying to find wife Lucinda's maiden name. I found daughter Malinda's name to be Malinda Caroline Brown and ordered her death certificate to see if it gave her mother's maiden name. The certificate said that her mother's name was Lucinda Mitchell. She may have been a Mitchell and married a Mitchell, but I would like to know for sure. Is there anyone on the list who knows Lucinda's maiden name or is there anyone on the list who knows where or when the other children died? I would like to order their death certificates to see if they list Lucinda's maiden name. Thanks in advance for any help. Jimmie
