    1. Re: Re: Alvin J.Franks and 1st wife Elizabeth White(?)
    2. I don't think Elizabeth Harper White died in Marion county, but rather in Talledega County. Elizabeth Frances White, her daughter who married Meredith Duke was the only child of Elizabeth Harper and John Martin White Jr that lived in Marion County. She died 28 March 1920 in Bexar, at an amazing 96 years of age. She was my great great grandmother, through her youngest son, John Duke, who survived her by barely 1 day. Meredith Duke, tho living in the Bexar area, purchased 40 acres near Pikeville in 1854, and I spent a lot of time trying to figure out who the Whites were that also purchased land grants in the same area were, but don't believe they were closely related, if at all. Meredith was a land speculator of sorts, made quite a lot of money buying and selling land in GA, and would've continued to do so in AL, but died soon after moving to AL. I don't know anything about her or her family, but the name is the same and it might give you a clue to research. Hope this helps some. The Lamar News - July 14, 1887, page 4. July 21, 1887 MRS. ELIZABETH WHITE, near 90 years of age, died at her home near Pikeville last Saturday. The deceased has practiced medicine for many years and will be sadly missed by the citizens of that section. Additional Comments: This obituary is listed in both July 14 and July 21, 1887 issue of THE LAMAR NEWS. Both articles say last Saturday.

Here is the information from the census: 1860 Federal Census Western Dist., Marion Co., Al. Pikeville P.O. June 30, 1860 Page# 547 Pace, William- 45 yrs.- Farmer- b. Ga. Mary- 33 yrs.- b. Ga. Julia- 17 yrs.- b. Ga. Andrew- 14 yrs.- b. Ga. James- 12 yrs.- b. Ga. Jane- 8 yrs.- b. Ga. Martha- 7 yrs.- b. Al. Sarah- 5 yrs.- b. Al. Allise- 1 yrs.- b. Al. Myself and several others have been stuck for many years with our Pace family line and have not been able to find them on any censuses before 1870. This particular census is a possibility (the closest I've seen yet). Is Mary's full name 'Mary Rachel' or 'Rachel Mary'? Is it possible that Jane (possible nickname of 'Fame') went on to marry ? Mitchell? Could the name 'Martha' actually be 'Mahala'? Could Sarah's middle name be 'Angeline'? Please, if you can help with this in any way at all I would be so grateful! Thank you, Karla
