    1. James May Born about 1840
    2. I'm looking for the parents and siblings of a "James May" Born about 1840. James may have been born in Tennessee or Mississippi. James had 3 children with Marenda Welch from Tishomingo County, Mississippi. Marenda was also known as Amanda. 1 - Mollie May - b. May 1865 2 - John Henry May - b. Dec 25, 1866 3 - Fannie May - b. Oct 31, 1867 Marenda's parents are John & Sarah (Hayes) Welch. Family story: James & Marenda were on the road to Arkansas with the 3 children in a covered wagon after their house burned in Greenville. (I don't know where Greenville is for sure TN, MS, AL???). Along the way, James was killed and robbed of $700 in Tennessee (between 1867 - 1880) and Marenda wrote to her brother John Welch (b=1844) in Arkansas to come get her. If anyone can match this to more information I'd love to hear from you. Elden May Little Rock, Arkansas

    3. Hi Joel: My Samuel wasn't bn. until1801 in Tn. I havn't been able to trace my line into those in Lincoln Co. There was Thomas Beard 30--to 40 in the Marion Co. census ( Thomas Watt Beard) he was the son of my Alexander Beard. They ended up in Texas. I have done DNA and we have an exact match with that line. You seem to be very knowlegeable and helpful. Thank you. Any ideas on burial inf. for Alexander? Scots-Irish descent---Ireland to Pa; to Washington Co NC (Tn. later) Abbeville Sc, then at age 80 to Marion Co. Pikeville with dau. Rachel. 3. Fred, There was a Samuel Baird/Beard on the War 1812/Creek War rolls of the 7th MS Territory Volunteers (AL/MS); do you have any link between that soldier and your Alexander ?? From my records there are a couple of families that settled in Lincoln Co TN that seem to be related to your Alexander. You will find in that TN county men who may have had ties to Marion Co AL (and possibly lived in Marion for a time), as follows: Thomas Beard/Baird b abt 1804 SC - his son, Alfred M., enlisted in 1st Ala Cavalry (USV); POW at Andersonville Prison GA, died there. Alexander Beard/Baird b abt 1812 TN, wife Nancy, at least 6 children, at least two sons and one son-in-law enlisted in 1st Ala Cavalry (USV). William W.
