I have combed the portions of the 1850 Alabama Madison Co. Census which have been transcribed and are on the Alabama GenWeb Archives. Could not locate my great-grandfather (for sure) although I located the rest of his family. My question is this: Does anyone have access to a fascimile version by which you could analyze the actual handwriting? If so, would you be willing to look at the following household for me? 1850 / Madison Co., AL District #33 Reel No. M432-9 PAGE NO. 367B. household/family 48/48 Oley, W.M. Oley, Octavia Oley, Mary Neaval, Milar It's the last name I'm interested in. I wonder if MILAR NEAVAL (as is indicated in the typed transcription) could possibly be MILAS NEAVES (when one looks at the actual census)??? The age is right for my great-grandfather and the census would have been taken about a month before he was to marry...so it stands to reason that he might have been working for another family as a farm laborer. If anyone has access to this information and would be willing to look and give me your assessment, I would be most appreciative. Teresa Neaves
