Re: County of Decatur Creation and Abolishment In December 1821, Decatur County Alabama was created out of part of Jackson County and the part of Madison County located east of the Flint River. This county only lasted in creation from December 1821 until December 1825. Can anyone offer any discussion on why this county was created and only lasted for four years? Was this actually a new county created from a part of Indian Territory at that time or had Jackson and Madison Counties already expanded to include that area. Which county was created first Decatur county, Jackson County or Madison County?
