Lewis FINLEY married Parmelia MADDOX in 1825 in Madison Co., Alabama. His brother William FINLEY married Elizabeth Wilson MADDOX in 1833 in Madison Co., MS. They were the daughters of Wilson and Susan ELLIS MADDOX of Huntsville, Madison Co., Alabama. The FINLEY'S settled with their families in Madison Co., MS, and were amongst the largest land owners in the county by the early 1840's. Both Lewis and William were both closely tied to the family of James and Sarah MOORE of Madison Co., MS. Their grandson, James Alexander MOORE (son of Daniel & Mary McCarty MOORE) married a Parmelia MADDOX in 1852 in Madison Co., MS. Her brother was William Ellis MADDOX who graduated from Tulane Medical School in 1860. We've been unable to determine the parents of this Parmelia & William Ellis MADDOX. Are they somehow related to the family of Wilson and Susan ELLIS MADDOX of Madison Co., AL? Would love to hear from anyone who can shed some light on this family.
