I need some help locating a family in 1870 Census, somewhere in Tennessee or Alabama/ The name is James Polk Manly, born 1842 thru 1847 in Alabama. His father was born in S.C. and his mother was probably born in TN. His wife is Betty, probably Elizabeth, and she was probably born in TN. They have one daughter, Emily, born in TN in 1869 or 1870. I have never found this Betty. She apparently died between 1871 - 1876, either in TN or Alabama. James is shown in 1880 as J. Poke Manly, with a new wife and a total of 4 children; 2 by his first wife, Betty, and 2 by his second wife, Martha Clinton and they are in Madison Co., Alabama. This is where this Manly family came from apparently. It's possible his father is Hutchison Manly and his wife Elvira Cannon who were married in Madison Co. AL in 1832. I have checked the Ancestry.com lists and can't find James. His surname could have been shown that year as Manley. Thank you, Lola
