    1. War of 1812
    2. On September 20, 1814 in Fayetteville, TN, Samuel Miller enlisted into the West TN Militia,Col Lowery and Lt. Col Hammons. He enlisted for 6 months but ended up serving 7 months. I have read about the Regiment, and tried to get information from the TN Archives on Samuel Miller. Their microfilm wasn't legible so they told me to write the National Archives. I received yesterday from the National Archives Samuel's record. Included in the records was a document showing that "Samuel Miller of Madison County Mississippi Territory" hired John Brahan to sue TN for the monies due him for his service in the war. He apparently received the monies and was given a Military Land Warrent for land in Madison County, Al. (The TN State Archives has no record of this and said they had never heard of anyone getting a military land warrent in Alabama) I know that Samuel was born in 1870 in VA and that he purchased more land in Madison County, Al in 1819. I had dated Samuel's arrival in Madison County to the 1819 date until I received the information from the National Archives. It now appears he was living there earlier. Does anyone know if Samuel Miller was living in Tennessee prior to the War of 1812, or if he came up from Madison County, Al to join the War. Sorry for such a long posting.
