    3. Looking for info on my grandfather's parents. Here's what I have: Thomas Jefferson Massey(my grandfather) b. 12/1/1905 in Madison Co. (Meridianville) m. Avis Audrey Inez Middlebrooks on January 24, 1926. I tried getting info from marriage records, but can't get any confirmation of where they were married. I have been told that Thomas' father was a Littleberry Crockett Massey, but the only name close to his on the 1900 AL census is Little B. Massey and the siblings listed on the census were not Thomas' siblings. I'm almost at a dead end, but I am hoping for a birth certificate to come in on Thomas' sister to clue me in. In the meantime, I wanted to check with this list to see if anyone has Masseys' from Madison Co. If I get the birth info I'm requesting, I'll be sure to post it and see if that might help. Jennifer

    3. I'm looking for information about my great great grandfather, W J Carter. He was born in Lincoln Co, TN in 1837 and joined the Alabama 27th Infantry CSA in New Market in March of 1862.They were known as the New Market Rebels. But W J is not listed in the Madison Co census of 1860. Was New Market a part of Madison Co in 1860? I know after the war W J settled in Marshall Co where he died in 1910. Where was he from 1837 to 1862? Any Carters on the mailing list? Thanks any one for your kind help! You may respond to jimrcarter@yahoo.com or to the list. 1. Pruitt and Blakely
    2. Here is one of my brick walls. Maybe it rings a bell with someone. Catherine Hulda Preuet married John W. Blakely on 17 April 1872 in Franklin County, Tennessee. They can be found on the 1880 Census in Jackson County, Alabama. They have 3 children, Elizabeth (Nancy Elizabeth "Lizzie"), Joseph (Joe), and William. In the 1900 census, John Blakely has died and Catherine Hulda (and son Albert) is living with son Joseph (Joe) and his family. They are living in Lincoln County, Tennessee (24 Civil District). Living next door is daughter, Nancy Elizabeth (Lizzie) Blakely Roberts and her family. She is married to William Marshall Roberts. I don't know where John & Hulda's son William is. In the 1910 census Hulda is living with her daughter, Nancy Elizabeth (Lizzie) Blakely Roberts and her family in the 24 civil district of Lincoln County, Tennessee. I haven't found John & Hulda's sons in the census yet. By the 1920 census Hulda has disappeared. I am beginning to suspect that she has died. I haven't found the sons yet. I have Nancy Elizabeth (Lizzie) Blakely Roberts and her family still living in the 24 civil district of Lincoln County, Tennessee. Nancy Elizabeth (Lizzie) Blakely Roberts is my great great grandmother.

This Project is about remembering our dead and preserving our history!!! Register to transcribe--volunteer to walk and record-- an Alabama cemetery by sending me a message giving the NAME OF THE CEMETERY, the COUNTY, and the NAME(S) OF THE PERSON/PEOPLE who will be doing the transcribing. If you have already transcribed cemetery data and would like for your work to become part of this project, just let me know. Or, help out by going to your local church or mortuary and getting a copy of their cemetery records. Partial cemetery transcriptions are also welcome! For every 1,000 people using this site there is about one new volunteer. There are two ways to register a cemetery with the Project. The best way is to use our Cemetery Registration Form. Registration Form By registering, you are volunteering to transcribe (walk and record) a cemetery. If your browswer does not support forms, you can send me a message telling me the name of the cemetery, the county and state where the cemetery is located and the names of the people who will be doing the transcribing. Alabama Tombstone Project Manager Carolyn Golowka Longmont, Colorado Please use "Cemetery Registration - AL" as the subject line of your message. Cemetery files in .txt format should be submitted to Carolyn Golowka Other file formats: I will do my best to convert your files to plain text format. Whenever possible, try to go to: File/Save As/ then change the format to text (.txt) which will expedite posting of your cemetery.
