    2. Hello Helen: There are many RAYs in the book. However, this book says it covers the northeast portion of Madison County. All of these RAYs are buried in Cameron Methodist Church cemetery; says its located in Section 34-2-2E - SW SE SW NW. Off Hurricane Creek Road. Hope this helps. Mary Winn Anderson

I am looking for any McCurley family members buried in these cemeteries. Also, does anyone know of a cemetery in a town called Hazle Green, that would have burials from 1900 and later? 3. I question your statement that Madison was part of Walker Co. Walker Co was formes in 1824, after statehood from Marion & Tuscaloosa Counties. Madison Co was a county in the Mississippi Territory. It was formed in 1808 from lands ceeded in 1806 & 1807 by the Cherokees and the Chicasaw's. In Fact Madison might technically have included Walker Co., since it was the only county in now North Alabama. Earnie R. 1. SIMMONS
    2. My SIMMONS family was in Lincoln Co., TN around Smithland (area of fish hatchery). They migrated across the line into Madison Co., AL also. The earliest SIMMONS that I have is Jarred Simmons b. July 1800 VA married Malinda Arnold between 1825-1827. Several of his children are found in marriage records of Madison Co., AL. They lived up close to the TN-AL line in little town called Plevna, outskirts of New Market. This probably doesn't help, but thought I would send anyways. Good Luck with your search. Eliz Mason

    3. Remember that there are two pages numbered the same in most censuses. To be safe check the page with the number, the prior one and then the following one. Are there missing pages? > Sometimes the pages numbers are in error for the following reasons: There are often 2-3 page numbers, applied at different times, on the originals. They may represent numbering each page and a second time numbering each set of pages and making them a and b. Different indexes use different numbers. Sometimes it helps when I can't find people to double (or half) the page number given. I always go a couple of pages either way when I read as well. Michele

    1. Simmons
    2. Hi, I'm one of three other people who are researching Enoch SIMMONS born ca. 1809 in TN. He died in 1901 in Jackson Co., AL. We are trying to locate his parents who according to his census record where both born in TN. There is a marriage record in Madison Co., AL for him and an Abigail/Abigale SLOAN for 1856. I'd be interested in anyone contacting me who is researching the Simmons's of Madison Co., AL. The following Simmons I found on the "Index to Alabama Wills, 1808-1870", compiled by Alabama Society & DAR: First is testator Second is county Third is where found Fourth is page number Simmons, John, Madison, PR2 1818-1823, 379 Simmons, Ruben, Madison, PR4 1826-1829, 402 Thank you, P. 1. Trying to Contact 1840 Transcriber
    2. Earnie Breeding
    3. Good news. I heard from Linda. She resent the 1840 transcription. Our national coordinator is working them and trying to get them posted to the net. They will be at www.rotsweb.com/~cenfiles The 1850 transcription is there now. We are looking for transcribers to do the censuses from Madison for 1870, 1880, 1900, 1910 & 1920. We do not expect anty transcriber to do the entire county, rather we ask that each do one or more of the enumeration districts from a census tear. These are posted on the net for all to use at no cost. We provide the software and technical support. The transcriber provides the time and the censuus images. These are available at most libraries and the LDS Family History Centers. Anyone interested is asked to contact me. Earnie R.
