Dear List, Due to copyright problems I can no longer do lookups. I have been advised the book is available for sale. "Cemeteries of Madison County, Alabama" Vol II is the book I was using. If you have a question about where to buy it, suggest you contact list. Regards, Mary Winn Anderson
Hello In 1838, a John Dines of Madison Co Alabama sold a negro slave named John Thurman to a Joshua Thurman in Hardeman Co TN. According to the 1840 census, there was a Thurman family on page 168 living in Madison Co Alabama. Does anyone know who this Thurman family was? And any information on John Dines and his family would be appreciated. In the 1830 Madison Co Ala census, there were two Dines households listed. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks Deborah Thurman Parks
Thank you for your kind words regarding my lookups. I am happy to help as others have helped me immensely. I only have these two cem. books on Alabama; so what I have is not complete, even in Madison County. Regarding Smithwick - I don't have any listed.
Hello Sandy Regarding your request: I didn't find Glenwood Cemetery in either of my books. Page 247 of Cems of Madison County lists a Gross Scruggs Cemetery (located somewhere in Sec 15-3-1D, probably in the east half of the section), however the author says she could not locate it. There is a rather long article on thsi page about Gross Scruggs (b. Bedford Co., VA, Jan 5, 1772) and his descendants.

PLEASE DISREGARD THE EARLIER MESSAGE SENT ... IT WAS AN UNFINISHED VERSION OF THE FOLLOWING. SORRY ABOUT THAT! N ---------- Hi, I am looking at a map in the Rand McNally "Huntsville, Athens and Decatur & Vicinity StreetFinder Book" (found at Wal-Mart, excellent for finding cemeteries; it is a wire-bound book, not a folding map). There is a VANN Cemetery in Southeast Madison County. From Highway 431, Turn right on Big Cove Road or Old Big Cove Road (don't know what the street sign says; it is identified as both on the map). After you pass Terry Drake Road ; there are several residential streets to the right (Young Lane, Byrd Drive, Long Drive, Michelle Drive). The next street should be Buford Drive (to left).
