From the replies I received, apparently New Market was included in the 1860 Madison County census although New Market was not mentioned by name. Often a store name from the area was all that was given. Jim Carter __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send FREE video emails in Yahoo! Do any of you have the 1870 census or the index to the 1870 census for Lawrence and Marchall County, AL? Really need to know if there were any Hardin/Harding/Harden listed in those 2 counties. Thanks Jewel

Hello everyone, I'm Hoping to make contact with anyone that may be researching the Rittenberry/Writtenberry/Rottenberry family who would have migrated to your area, from Smith County,TN or Putnam County, TN area. In the Madison County area most likely in Huntsville, I'd like to know if anyone has come across the name of Laura Rittenberry HILL, I believe Laura's husbands given name may have been Obie. I believe Laura was born in approximately 1883 and died in Madison County, between the years of 1953- 63. Her father was George (W)Rittenberry and Mother's name may of been Louisa Jane. On the 1900 Census, it least Laura's siblings as being Lue, Lethie, Dicie and James, if there are more I'm unsure. Thank you all, for any help that you may be able to send my way, since I don't have any idea where I'm going. Karen
Jim, that is a good question. What version of the census media were you using and was it a full copy or extraction? ----- Original Message ----- From: jim carter To: ALMADISO-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, January 13, 2002 4:27 PM Subject: New Market Hi List, I noticed in the census list for Madison Co in 1860 there was no one listed from New Market. Was New Market a part of Huntsville or another place in those days. Or was New Market in another county in 1860. I have ancestors who lived there but can't find them. Thanks. Thanks for sending out the correct link for the Madison Co. census. I wrote to Mr. Glover a few weeks ago and never received a response. I just kept checking the homepage and they continue to not work. Hope they get fixed soon they are such a wonderful resource to have --- but not if the link doesn't work. K. David Glover, Thank you very much for the URL to your website for the 1860 & 1870 Indexes to the Madison Co. Census. Jane Vining
Can someone please give me the URL's for the Madison County 1860 & 1870 Census Indices/Indexes that are posted by David Glover. I can't get them when I click on them at the Madison Co. website. Is his website still there ? Jane Vining
