    1. John and Mary Stephenson
    2. Tommy Stephenson
    3. I am seeking information on John and Mary Stephenson. The 1850 census of Giles County,TN. lists Samuel Stephenson, age 53, b. S.C. Mary (Shields) ,age 53, b. S.C. George Alexander ,age 28, b. AL. Mary ,age 18, b. AL. John ,age 16, b. AL. Sylvester ,age 13 b. AL. John could be "Jeff" Stephenson,1833-1886, who is buried, along with some of my Stephensons, in the Liberty Hill Cemetery in Madison County,AL. Do any Madison County,Alabama newspapers go back to 1886? I noticed that a John Thomas Stephenson received the Cross of Honor in Madison County,AL for his participation as a soldier in the 32nd Tennessee Infantry. Does the Sons of Confederate Veterans have any records on John Thomas Stephenson? I went to the library in Waxahachie,TX. and found that Sylvester Brown Stephenson joined Ward's Artillery in Madison County,AL. in 1861. A Mary Stephenson married William Buchanan in Limestone County,AL. in 1879. Samuel Stephenson b. 1795 is last found on the census of Madison County,AL. in 1860. Any help is appreciated! 1. Historical Drama
    2. David Carney
    3. Hello, Sorry to disturb you. However, we were kinda hoping you would like to know about a outdoor living historical drama scheduled to be performed beginning Aug 3, 2002. Based on the historical novel, When I Come Home, by Judith Carney, about her great-great grandmother, Lucinda Jane Boone Pless. Lucinda's husband was captured at Chicamauga during the War Between The States and never returned. Lucinda lived until 1913 never knowing what happened to her husband, James Monroe Pless. Not knowing her husband already lay dead in a mass grave hundreds of miles away, Lucinda did a very brave and heroic deed. In fact, some historians credit Lucinda with single-handedly saving Dadeville, Alabama from destruction by bravely standing up to Yankee General Lovell Rousseau and his "Rousseau's Raiders." To honor Lucinda, the City of Dadeville officially issued a proclamation declaring August 3, 2002 to be "Lucinda Jane Boone Pless Day." The Historic Society of Tallapoosa County is sponsoring it. We would sincerely appreciate it if you would place a link on your site to www.AlabamaStory.org & also perhaps help us publicize it. Judith Carney, the author, playwright, & director is also available for limited speaking engagements to help publicize the drama and the book on which it is based. For more please go to www.AlabamaStory.org Thank you, David Carney Read Judy's latest book - When I Come Home The Historic Society of Tallapoosa County, Alabama is presenting it as an outdoor living historical drama this summer. http://www.JudyCarney.com

    1. Copyright Infringement of Genealogy Work
    2. Richard White
    3. Nowadays, with so much genealogical material available online and more being added each day, there is always the danger of someone coming along, taking your work and posting/using it without permission. Sadly, such is now the case with the Tennessee Valley Genealogical Society. The current adminstration appears to have seen fit to use some of my online work without my knowledge or consent. I have stated to them that consent was not and is not given. It is for this reason that I am forced to take several steps to fight the issue. A Copyright lawyer has already informed me that there is a clear case of wrongful infringement on my rights. I am in touch with many researchers by Internet and am alerting them to an already growing boycott of the Tennessee Valley Genealogical Society by not submitting materials, subscribing to or purchasing any of their publications, or to query them for any information. The society has already seen a drastic decrease in their membership rolls and in attendance to their workshops. This type of behavior will only make matters worse. With this... new direction?... it appears the line between ethics, legality, proper procedures and etiquette has been crossed when someone is willing to use material whether copyrighted or not to offer as their own. I know many of the society's membership does not support this type of action, this has come from one individual in particular and followers who have, so far, been unwilling or unable to stop the situation. To use a cliche, a word to the wise.... Protect yourself and your work. I am. Spread the word. Richard White ALMADISO-L Listowner
