I have this account of Barrons in Madison There was a Samuel Benton Barron who went to Texas and served in a confederate outfit in that state called the " Lonestar Defenders." Samuel Benton Barron wrote a book called "The Lonestar Defenders",published in 1908. In the book,he mentions that his father was Samuel Boulds Barron born in South Carolina in 1793. All the Barrons on the 1820 census were from South Carolina. The grandfather of Samuel Benton Barron was James Barron of Ireland. Samuel Benton Barron's mother was Martha Cotton or Cotten from Guiliford County,NC. Martha's father and mother were James Cotton and Nancy Johnson. Nancy Johnson's brother was Abner Johnson. The Cottons and their relatives Gideon Pillow,William Pillow and their sister,Mrs. Dew settled in Maury County,TN. in 1808. I noticed a Gideon Pillow on the 1820 census of Giles County,TN. Martha Cotton, wife of Samuel Boulds Barron, had been married before to an Ashworth. Samuel Boulds Barron and Martha Cotton Barron settled near a place called Cave Springs in Madison County,AL. Samuel Boulds Barron taught school near Maysville,in Madison County,AL. Samuel Benton Barron, who wrote the book called "The Lonestar Defenders," mentions that he was born in Gurley in Madison County,AL in 1834. He wrote that he had sisters Tabitha and Nancy Jane. Many of you were apparently more savvy than I and were already aware that this was a hoax. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. In the future I will check virus notices at symantec.com (Norton Anti-Virus program maker), before passing virus notices. If you deleted this file from your system and need to reinstall it go to McAfee.com-virus information library for instructions. Don & Jackie

    1. Perrys
    2. Tommy Stephenson
    3. Carrie, Mary Stephenson was a Shields. Elizbeth Sarah Perry was the wife of George Alexander Stephenson. George Alexander was living in Madison County on the 1870 census and shows up on the 1880 census of Limestone County,AL. George and Elizabeth Sarah Perry Stephenson married in Giles County,TN. in 1849. On the 1850 census are the following Perrys who I think are the ones I am looking for: I still know very little about my Perrys. The 1850 census of Giles lists them as The 1850 Census lists: William Perry,55,S.C. Elizabeth ,55,S.C. Nancy ,20,S.C. Joshua ,18,S.C. Susannah ,15,S.C. William ,12,S.C. Luanna ,9, S.C. A descendent of Frank Monroe Hudson who married George Stephenson's daughter Mary Sue wrote in a family history that Elizabeth Sarah Perry was one of four daughters of a preacher from South Carolina. Susan Perry,15, married John Glasgow in Giles. Lt. John Glasgow's health was ruined in the Civil War and shortly after he came home from the war he died. Joshua Perry might be this Joshua Perry: In the Civil War index records it lists him as being in the Co. A 53rd TN Infantry. Thats also what he lists on his pension records. Joshua's tombstone in Florence, AL reads that he was born in 1826 or 1828 but thats not right, but the date of death is correct reading 1906. Josuha is a name found among the Perrys of Lancaster,South Carolina and Franklin County,N.C. There was also several William Perrys in Lancaster. I do know there were many Perry families in Maury County,TN. I do not know where William went after 1850. He does not show on the 1860 census of Giles as far as I know. Sorry, but I do not know anything about Samuel Perry or Jasper Newton Perry. Tom Stephenson

    3. Tommy, Is your Mary STEPHENSON related to the PERRY and OLIVER families? Are you related to Samuel Preston PERRY or Jasper Newton PERRY? If you are, we might share ancestry. Please feel free to e-mail me personally, if you'd like, but I'll be happy to share information with the List if I can help anyone. I am faxing your posting to Ruby BRITTON in Franklin Co., AL. She might be able to help solve your mystery. My PERRY and OLIVER families came from Lincoln Co., TN to Madison, Franklin and Marion Counties, AL and then the two brothers mentioned above migrated to Old Houlka, Chickasaw Co., MS. I descend from Samuel. Jasper Newon Perry's last known address was Sparta, Chickasaw Co., MS. Carrie E.
