    3. Hi Kathy, The Craft family book that I have has most all the Craft line back to the late 1600's. I won't make a statement that it has ALL Craft. If any of you people were Crafts or married a Craft, I can probably tell you something about basic info. Can you give me a little focus? 3. Hi Betty, My reference material clearly states that elizabeth and Anna are children of Ezekil Craft. I have not checked to see what documentation is present to support the relationship. I will try to find out. There is an extensive introduction to Ezekil in this material This book (500 pages) was put together by David J. Hawkins PO Box 359, Coperville, Texas 75212 I do have a couple of pages each on Elizabeth and Anna. Do you have info on them. If so, I won't type it in. 3. To: Mrs. Wyona J. Moon I missed your message, but found your website in Bill Hughes message. I only looked at the first one of your lines. I expect I have connections to most of them. I have a book called Bateman, Grayson, Boyette, Carter and Cole Families, etc. by Cynthia Snider. GRAYSON and CRAFT are my lines in Madison County. HORNBUCKLE was the first name in your list that came up so I will tackle it first. The interest in this book on HORNBUCKLE is that Cynthia HANNA (dau of James Hanna) married George GRAYSON, son of John C. Grayson and Sarah "Sallie" Carter. Their daughter, Elizabeth Sabrina Grayson married William P. Hornbuckle 19 September 1842. She died 18 January 1910 and is buried in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Madison Co., AL. William P. Hornbuckle ws born 24 Jan 1823 in Alabama. His parents, William Hornbuckle born 1781 and wife Elizabeth Griffin Hornbuckle came to Alabama between 1818, when their son John M. was born in SC and 1823 when Wm. P. was born. The book goes on to have 102 (a quick count) of Hornbuckles in the index. There are charts and a nice narrative and pictures relating to this family. Betty

    3. I have heard that Sally might be a Glover [unproven], but not a Lanier. That is interesting. There is a book by Louise Ingersoll on an early Lanier family. I don't remember much about the Laniers as I was only interested in the chapter on daughter Sarah who married my ancestor, George Brewer. I am from the second wife so am not Lanier. 3. Hi again Wyona, I am a Craft decendent. My gm was Sara Lulu Craft b in Tx in (of the top of my head) 1880 d 1963. My gf was William Alonzo Hughes b 1876 in Owens Cross Roads, AL d 1964 in Collin County Texas. He and his brother Hutto came to Texas in the late 1800's. Most of the families in southern Madison county in the 1800's seemed to have married into each other at some time. The Craft line contains many names from that area and time. There are 16 Moons, 1 Maple, 0 Farmers, 0 Sutphin , 0 Treece, 7 Cobb, 1 Whitaker, 59 Vann, 0 Hodges, 0 Stapler, 0 Morrison, and 2 Davis that are connected to the Craft line. My info list 554 Crafts. 3. Hi Betty, I am researching the Hughes of Owens Cross Roads, Madison County, AL. As far as I know no work has been done on my line. My gm was Sara Lulu Craft. A significant number of Crafts came to North Texas in the late 1800's and settled north of Dallas in Melissa, Collin County, Texas. About half of the Melissa Cemetery is Craft and Hughes. One of the Craft decendents has researched the Crafts and I have a copy of his research. I though I would share what I could. I NEED HELP WITH THE HUGHES OF OWENS CROSS ROADS, AL! Right now I am stuck at William Hughes b about 1829 married Martha Caroline Posey about 1850. He is reported by family to have been killed at the battle of Chickagoma in sept 1863. I can't find out if this is true or not. I don't know who his parents were. I hope to come to Madison County in late October to check church records and newspaper reports and anything else I can find to get past this 1829 William Hughes barrier. -----Original Message----- From: Betty Stokes <[email protected]> To: Bill Hughes <[email protected]> Date: Sunday, September 27, 1998 3:52 PM Subject: Re: Crafts of Madison County >Who are you researching? >Betty > >Bill Hughes wrote: >> >> I have quite a bit of information on the Crafts of Madison county AL and >> Collin county, Texas if anyone is researching this family. If one of the spouses was not a Craft they will probably not be in my material. I will check for what I may have. I don't know now if I am kin to the moons or not. If I am it will be by marriage I guess. I have looked at so much material this last few months that I'm not even sure who I am. I know the Moons, Crafts, Hughes and Owens are names that I keep running across. My gm was a Craft. My gm and gf lived in Melissa, Collin county, Texas. 3. Hi Wyona, First, let me say that I have information from the research done by a Craft decendent that I don't have documentation on so can't verify the correctness of information I provide. Children of Alexander Lee and Angeline Cobb Craft Walter Craft b19 jan 1865 Madison AL (probably in Owens Cross Roads) d 15 Jan 1921 Madison AL Married: Charity Susan Moon about 1884 "Sudie C." was born 17 Nov 1867 and died 02 May 1949. She was the daughter of Andrew Jackson and Sarah Maples Moon. Walter died 15 Jan 1921in Madison County. 1. Re Dallas
    2. Does anyone have any information or stories on the area known as Dallas Mills? I am interested in its history, how it was located and what was there. Does anyone know of the old cemetery that was a part of the village and if there is a list of people buried there. Does it still exsist and is it in good repair today?

Also, where was Perquimans Co in relation to the others in the 1600's & 1700's? Thomas Elliott's line sounds like a fair bet for William's & Lewis's grandparents, at least. Maybe parents in there. I'm completely confused about counties now, as I've seen in print discussiuons of my John & Ann Williams Wright, Nancy's parents, as being in Fauquier Co, VA, and in Halifax, Surry, Northampton, and Yadkin Counties in NC. Seems to me there were at least a couple of other VA counties listed, too. Do you have any clear idea about which ones were actually the same spot with different names & which were nearby--or too far away to be considered the same home? 1. Re:newspapers
    2. Does anyone know the names of the newspapers that exsisted in 1915-20 for Madison County and Huntsville AL? Have these newspapers been microfilmed? Are they available for rent or purchase for people who do not live close to the Huntsville library (as I am sure they are on file there)? If there was more than one for that time, is there an area that they would most likely have covered? Thank you.
