Could you see if there is a will for Samuel John Robert Stephenson who married Mary Shields. They were living in Madison in 1860 and were each about 64 years old. Their grandson,William Alexander Stephenson, died in Chicago in an early elevator accident. His wife was Dolly Darwin. I know that her father,George Darwin left a will. I would appreciate it if you would see if any of these Stephensons left a will. Tom Stephenson

I am trying to locate the descendants of Alfred Harris, last noted in the 1880 census of Madison County, AL. His siblings were listed as Alice, Brancy, Carrie, and Waddy (possibly spelled Wardie). Anyone having knowledge of this Harris family, please respond. Thanx [email protected]
Hayes, Here is additional information about James Walker's children and who they married. I also have information on the Coffman family that I can send to you. The Coffmans were in Jefferson Co., TN before they were in Alabama. I am copying this message to Ann Storer, who may be able to tell you more about David Canon/Cannon. Could you tell me more about the family of Seaborn Jones? I have two Jones sisters in the list below, Martha and Temperance, who married Walker brothers, but I have no information about their family. Seaborn Jones was also at the sale of James Walker's estate in 1824. Several of the marriages were found in a compiled record, "Alabama Marriages: Early to 1825" by Liahona Research, Inc., 1990. In Vols. 153 and 179 Mrs. Gandrud states that James Walker's sons William and John moved in approx. 1842 to Ouachita Co., AR; in Vol. 179 she states that Robert disappears from the records; that Samuel and James died in Madison Co.; that Anna Walker Harrison "left the state"; and that Peggy Walker Coffman moved to Limestone Co., AL. Saw a message about October 1 from Barbara Ray saying the oldest Alabama ancestor she was researching was James WALKER. Barb named children but without dates. I would appreciate more information from Barb or anyone else about the WALKERS, as one of my oldest Alabama ancestors is Baldwin/Baldon/Boldin HOWARD, who supposedly witnessed James WALKER'S will 27 February 1817 and was a witness to the probate 20 March 1824. I am researching, these surnames, Vining, Wallace, and English. All three families came to Madison Co., Al. in the late 1890's. Actually, the Vining family used to go back and forth across the state line, between, Lincoln Co., Tn. and Madison Co., Al. since the 1820's. Look forward to hearing from anyone researching these last names. Cyndy
Sarah L. Vann d. 1847/1848. Died in route to Texas. She married Silas Glover, son of Benjamin Glover. Silas first wife was Jenny Craft, daughter of Ezekiel Craft. Sarah's father was Lazarus Vann. She had brothers named William Jordan Vann and Lazarus Thomas Vann. She had an uncle named Thomas Vann (II). Lazarus's father was Thomas Vann (I), b. 1747 in Chowan Prec., NC. He died in 1839 in Madison Co., AL. He was 92 years old. I may have more information on this line, but this is all I have on my database at this time. Most of this information came from Ella May Underwood, a descendant and Vann and Grayson researcher. This information came in regard to the Craft/Vann/Grayson/etc. connection and a discussion about the intermarriage in her family between various Madison Co., AL families. I would try and do as many as possible. Please do not send any broad queries and please give me some sort of article to look for. Will do in the order I get. Thanks Kyle in Arizona

Also I've heard there is a Glover descendabt living in Temple. Is she also part of your family? There were some Glovers in Milam County, Tx and maybe she is from that family. Sandy Walker
