Hi, i might confuse this issue a little more. You list a Barnum in your last message. William Hiram Hughes was my ggf but Edie Ann was not my ggm. She was the second wife of WH. My ggm was Mary Branum/Brannum/Brandon. (FYI The family reports Edie to have been "hell on wheels" and the reason my gf and his bro. Hutto left AL and came to Texas) This last name appears to be spelled a number of diferrent way. She was born in either 1835 or 1855. The tomb stone says 1835 and the censis report in 1880 shows her as 25. I suspect the 1855 date is more likely to be correct. the 1835 birth would make her 16 years older that WH and over 40 when they got married and had several children. I know very little about her. Her tomb stone list her name as MJM wife of W H Hughes. Nov 17 1835 - July 1888. There is also a note on my information from the Moon cemetery that Mary J N C Brandon married William H Hughes on Dec 23, 1874 On the marriage license it list her as Mary J N CorG Brandon. Their marriage bond was signed by John P Moon, On William Alonzo Hughes, WH and Mary's first child, Mary's last name was reported as Brannon. I don't know, Who is on first? The family bible of WH reports John Glover's death as June 20, 1923 and Jane Glover's death as Jan 22, 1929. I just shotgunned some of this info to see what res;ponse it might generate. Bill Hughes

Hi David, I am reviewing the death certificate for Eidth Ann Glover. She was born on April 20, 1869 and died on July 3, 1934. She married William Hiram Hughes on Feb. 3, 1890. She is burried in the Moon Cemetery in Madison County, AL. John glover signed the note for the marriage. (it cost $200 buck to get married). The death certificate list John glover born in Al as the father and Jane Maples born in Al as the mother. The information was provided for the death certificate by John Hughes of Owens Cross Roads, Al. I believe John was her son. I would need to chk my records to confirm that. Well, I chked and John was her first born. He was born on Dec 18, 1890. I hope that helps, it is about all I have on Eadie Ann. Hi, I'm searching for my gr gf's ancestors - his name was Gilbert Pinkney Stovall or Pinkney Gilbert Stovall My mother thinks he was born in Winchester, TN - I have searched TN over looking for him. He married in Giles Co. The marriage record says P G Stovall married Ida V Gray on 12/6/1883. He died young and Ida remarried. I have found 2 Gilbert Stovall's listed in the Stovall Family Association information but so far no one has responded with information on these people. Since so many Stovall's are from Alabama I thought I'd try the bordering Alabama counties. Does anyone have information to give me a place to start? I'll gladly share what little I have. Seeking information on Robert S. Stephenson of Madison County age 39 in 1860. He and his wife Susan F. Stephenson age 30 in 1860 were born in TN.,probably Giles County,TN. Their children were born in Alabama. They were James B. Stephenson b. 1849 and Sarah A. E. Stephenson b. 1851. This Robert S. Stephenson is believed to be the son of Samuel John Robert Stephenson and Mary Shields. Robert S. Stephenson is believed to be the son of Samuel John Robert Stephenson b. 1795 in York County S.C. and Mary Shields Stephenson. In 1860 Samuel and Mary were living in Madison County,Alabama. Sarah A.E. Stephenson married someone with the surname name of Cole. An old Huntsville newspaper article claimed that Robert S. Stephenson,a resident of Huntsville for many years died in Wood County,TX. in 1881. His daughter Sarah Cole had preceded him in death and his wife Susan F. was living in McLennan County TX.(Waco,TX.,area) in 1886. Samuel's son,George Alexander Stephenson b. 1822 in Limestone County,Alabama married Elizabeth Sarah Perry in Giles County,in 1849. His son,William Alexander Stephenson married Dolly Darwin of Madison County,Alabama, in 1879. They had children William,Alice,and Elizabeth Stephenson. I know nothing about their children except that an Alice Stephenson was living in Huntsville in the 1940's. Also living with George was a Susan Glascoe or Glasgow age 40 in 1880 and daughter Mary 19. Susan husband's was a Lt. John Glasgow who died shortly after the Civil War ended. Sylvester Brown Stephenson,son of Samuel and Mary Shields m. Mary Holt and he died in Waxahachie,TX. in 1908. I found his petition for the Confederate Cross of Honor there and he wrote that he enlisted in Ward's Artillery in Huntsville in 1861. She married George Allen Edwards b. 1862 in New Market, Madison Co. Alabama. My ggrandfather Lummie Lee Edwards was born 1891 in Elkmont Alabama. His grandfather was Jonathan (Jack ) Edwards b. 1829 Fannie (as she was called) went by the name of Reed. Her father unknown Ratliff died when she was young. Her mother remarried to unknown Reed.
