    1. Hargrave, Williams and Martin Families
    2. My Great Great Grand Father Thomas E. Hargrave lived in Madison County, Alabama from about 1827 to 1848. He married Amanda Williams in 1828, they had a daughter. He married Paulina Martin in 1831, they had three sons and three daughters. Are there any descendents of these people still in Madison County.? Does anyone know what happened to Thomas, Amanda, Paulina or the seven children.? Any help would be most appreciated. James E. Hargraves

    2. Carol Smith
    3. I have a partial synopsis of an entry from Deed Book P, page 708, dated 17 Dec. 1836. Can anyone help me to fill in the blanks? In this deed, David WALKER and his wife Martha sell to Andrew ICE 640 acres of land, and also FR. #93. (What does FR #93 mean?). "This covers parts of Sec 36 and 36 T6 and of Secs. 1 and 2 T7 R2 E, the 640 acres being the reservation of Amos ROBERSON and being the reservation to which the said Eliza before her marriage with William MILLER, which tract I do warrant. (something must have been omitted). Signed, George CHENNAULT, J. P., and Morgan H. BARRETT, J. P. My Andrew ICE was married to a woman named Eliza, so I wonder if it is her? Is Eliza dau. of Amos ROBERSON? Was Eliza m. to William MILLER? You can see that I need help. Happy to pay someone to check this deed book. Please let me know. Thanks, Carol in CO

    1. Re: Where was Decatur, AL in 1819?

    3. I have lost jbrown's original request so was happy to see it reprinted in your answer. Limestone County and Cotaco were a part of the Alabama Territory which was formed in 1817 after being a part of Mississippi Territory). There was no Morgan at that time. Alabama became a state in 1819. Delegates to the constitutional convention of 1819 numbered 3 from Limestone, 8 from Madison and 2 from Cotaco. Cotaco was created by the Alabama Territorial Legislature on Feb. 6, 1818 on lands acquired from the Cherokee Indians by the Treaty of Turkeytown. The name was changed on June 14, 1821 to Morgan in honor of General Daniel Morgan(Virginia) a hero of the American Revolution. Decatur may have been a place already in Cotaco since the Battle of Tripoli which made Stephen Decatur a hero, was fought in 1804. You may see maps of the 1819 and 1821 delegates along with a wonderful timeline and many interesting facts about Alabama history at the web page of the Alabama Department of Archives and History. http://www.archives.state.al.us/counties/morgan.html You can use the same address for Madison Co. just substitute madison instead of morgan.-There is a great teachers guide with online sources for those of you who are Alabama natives but may have forgotten or never had these in class. Spend some time with the Time line and its links. It will amaze you what a significant part Alabama has played in our history. 1. TIPTONS/WILLIAMS
    2. A big thank you to Mary Winn the information on William Bradford Tipton and Rebecca Ann Williams Tipton. I did not have any of this information. Also, I had Charlotte Schrimshers name but did not know who she married. Mary, the information was a tremendous help! Jack Fryar, Thanks for all the information you've posted also. I have heard that there were two William Williams families in Madison County. A Williams researcher told me. Off the top of my head I do not have any information on William Williams in Franklin County, TN. However, I have lots of information not in the computer yet. I'll look through some of it and if I find anything, I'll let you know. Gem, I do not know enough about the Tiptons to know if mine is descended from Shadrack or Benjamin. Peggy

If so, do you have a date of birth for him? I only know of one child that they had, Sarah Elizabeth "Sallie" Tipton who married Charles Crockett Godbey. I also have one Hambrick. My father's sister, Ruth Nerren of Lincoln County, TN married Robert Hambrick. Ruth was younger than my father who was born in 1898. I do not have a date of birth for Ruth nor do I have a date or place where she married Robert Hambrick. All I know about him is his name. Do you have a Robert Hambrick in your data? 2. Hello JM Fryar Your William Rogers Family tree mentioned Jeduthan Carter, which runs through my family. This compelled me to go to my Carter Family Book--"The Descandants of Captain Thomas Carter of Barford, Lancaster County, VA". It has the following mentions of Rogers: p. 43-Catharine Brent married Charles Rogers 3/20/1762, with consent of her stepfather, Edward Carter. p. 202-Joseph Rogers of Culpepper sold to John Carter of Spotsylvania an improved plantation of 188 acres in Orange County. p. 325-Peter Carter married his first cousin, Catharine Rogers 9/23/1712. Issue: Aaron Carter, probably a son of his first wife, Catharine Rogers. He probably came of age about 1738 as August 11, 1738 he gained a suit against his guardian, robert Galbraith, who was the husband of his stepmother. Catharine Carter - no data I am searching the following names in Madison County Alabama (and Jackson Co., AL and Franklin Co., TN) ANDERSON, MORRIS, WILLIAMS, FANNING. [email protected]
