Rejoice STEEN, born in S. Carolina in about 1815, acquired some land in Alabama on 20 September 1839. The Alabama Land Record reads as follows: Date: 20 09 1839. Location: AL. Document #: 18663. Serial #: AL2580__.378. Sale Type: CASH ENTRY SALE. Acres: 40 .2925. Meridian or Watershed: HUNTSVILLE. Parcel: Township 17S, Range 14W, Section 11. Rejoice STEEN is Betty"s 3 G. Grandmother, and nothing is known about her parents or siblings. It was therefore a great surprise to find Land Records for a John STEEN and a James STEEN indicating purchases of land on the same date, same location, same Meridian or Watershed, same Township and same Range. NOW FOR THE QUESTIONS: A road trip is planned to Alabama from East Texas. Who can give me driving directions to the property that Rejoice purchased in September 1839? ALSO, there must have been a family connection between Rejoice, John, and James. What was this relationship? Any help from you folks out there, just a suggestion as to who I can ask, would certainly be appreciated. Herschell and Betty Spears in East Texas. hebe@peoplescom.net
