Hi, Still searching for the parents of my great-grandfather John Griffin HOWELL. Rumor has it that John may have been born an "ARMSTRONG" (his mother may have been married multiple times or simply had children by multiple fathers...) John was born in May 1876 in Cleburne County, AL and was either black or mulatto. In 1899 and 1900, John was a student at Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Macon County, AL (source: 1900 census Macon County, AL). Married Carry Eva MOORE in Warrior Stand, Macon County, AL (in 1900 or 1901) Between 1901 and 1920, the Howells lived in Randolph County, AL. Are there any Tuskegee Institute historians out there? I'm also hoping to find some school records on John G. Howell with the hopes that some family information might be listed. If you have any connections to this HOWELL line or can help with some Tuskegee information, I would be grateful! Regards, Dana L. Walker Los Angeles, CA [email protected]
